“Comfortable and Friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

Essentially a seafood restaurant within the Boston Park Plaza Hotel. The heavy wood panelling and green leather seated booths are somewhat reminiscent of the 1950's

We both chose the Clam chowder which proved to be very filling but ever so salty. When we commented on this to the waiter we received the replay that "Americans like salt!" I then ordered the fish and chips which were both plentiful and very good. My wife had ordered a flat bread meal but the wrong meal arrived. After a considerable time, and two requests querying where the meal was, we cancelled the dish altogether.

The waitress was extremely apologetic explaining it was only her 2nd day on the job. We did not hold it against her.

Think our experience was marred to some degree by the waitress and that we were both very tired after a long trip from New York

Based on what we experienced that night I would only rate the restaurant as 3, but I think it would be better than than hence the higher rating

“Very average overall”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

We visited in a group of 6 in August 2013. Having visited several restaurants around Boston, I would consider this restaurant very average. The service was not that great (very long time to refill drinks etc.), the decor is quite tacky and lighting is inadequate. However, our party did get our own booth which was quite private. The menu selection really was quite poor. I found their burger quite bland and tasteless, which is unusual for the US, which normally has excellent burgers. However, the presentation was good and the food cheaper than average in Boston. It's also in a very central location.

“Pretty good, but”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

... you can do better. If you're staying in the Park Plaza, this is a quite convenient place to drop in. Food is good, and worth the price, but within a short walk you can find much better.

They do have (at least for now) some bargain-priced starters during happy hour, that are a good bargain and perfect with a round of drinks.

If it's raining outside and you'd prefer to stay in, this is a good choice. Otherwise, you can do better.

“Great food, tired decor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We stayed at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel for a convention and ate in McCormick and Schmick's for dinner. The first thing we noticed was the dark, very"tired" deco, including ripped booths and a stained carpet that was buckling. If you overlook that, the service was extremely attentive from the wait staff to the management and the food was excellent. We started out with a summer gaspachio soup special then we had salmon that was served on a sizzling skillet with a ginger pepper sauce.
The manager " twisted our arms" to order the specialty dessert, warm upside down apple carmel walnut tart that was served with cinnamon ice cream. It was unbelievable!! But share it because it is really rich. They alo have an extensiv wine list/\.

“Best Lobster Mashed Potatoes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

My best friend an I went there specifically for the a lobster Mashed Potatoes! We were both hung over so it sounded like a dream. Really good drinks and the best, sweetest lobster with a light cream sauce over mashed potatoes, and that was a side dish! It was huge! We couldn't finish the potatoes but we sure ate the Lobster!
