“Could have been finer dining”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2013 via mobile

We went with high hopes of fine dining and were disappointed from the start when the meet and greet was a bit casual. No amuse bouche and then into the menu. We thought the fish dishes were very good - an cooked oyster piece of hake and a scallop as 3 separate dishes. The chicken dish and the rib eye were disappointing, good cheese board and pudding. Disappointed at few USA wines on the wine list.

“Different Than Expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2013

No. 9 Park was highly recommended by a number of well heeled people I know, so we went with another couple. The atmosphere was terrific, the view of the park and its proximity to the State House was very nice. Service by John and his staff was exemplary. We all had the Chef's Tasting Menu - a compilation of about 8 small plates with a wide range of food. It sounded nice, but while ti was exactly what was represented, it simply wasn't a conventional meal with a single plate of a main course. It was super interesting and well presented. Excellent wine and cocktail selection. All in all an experience but not a conventional restaurant with a traditional menu. A true and interesting dining experiment.

“Very rich and very delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2013

We have been here a few times over the years and the food is always delicious and the service is very good as well. One of the most delicious things we've had are the prune-stuffed gnocchi with foie gras, almonds and vin santo. No. 9 Park is an expensive restaurant but the food and service are worthy of the price. We've had some of our best meals in Boston here.

“A bit off from past visits”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

We eat at No 9 a few times a year. All of our past visits have been excellent. This time was a bit different. This was the first time there was no amuse bouche and the rolls were of supermarket quality. Also the ice cream I had dessert was average at best. I may be nitpicking, but when you return to a spot that has always been superb, you begin to worry when it slips a little.

“Great dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

Went to No. 9 Park two times in the last three weeks, one time for private dinner for two and one time for business with a party of seven. Both times both service and food were excellent. Noise level is acceptable both for private and business. Also, the restaurant does not empty so quickly as many others, there are still many tables occupied between 10 and 11 pm both during the week and on weekends, which I like a lot. The waiters and waitresses know about food and wine (which is a rare exception from my experience) and are highly attentive and fast (which also is an exception). Regarding the size of the portions, one can could use the exhaustively used comparison between US and Europe: Portions for US standards are rather small, for European standards they are exactly right for such a restaurant. The quality was excellent both visits. Audience of the restaurant is not the "hipster crowd", but it is still a good mix. Depending on where you sit you have a nice view on the Boston Common from ground level. I will return and hope it stays that way.
