Description: The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. Enjoy ocean-side dining just steps from the New England Aquarium. Our restaurant couldn’t be more convenient to the Financial District, Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall and waterfront hotels. We think a visit to Boston must include a meal at Legal Sea Foods. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. We’ve received a boatload of accolades including “Most Popular Boston Restaurant” (Zagat, 2011/2012), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Improper Bostonian, 2010), “Best Chowder” (Boston Magazine, 2010), “Best Seafood Restaurant” (Boston Phoenix, 2009) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

“Make reservations or expect to wait!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013 via mobile

Went to Legal on advice of a local. The seemed to be quite a few locals there they knew to make reservations. We waited an hour and a half-seated around 8;30. The food did arrive quickly. I got the triple deal, lobster with sides, clam chowder, and a dessert. The clam chowder was ok, I've had better. I've had. Lobster once before and this one was so over cooked it was rubbery. Don't be deceived by the dessert, it's mostly whipped topping with a little fruit sprinkled on top. Our waitress was kind and attentive. Probably would not return.

Very busy seafood restaurant. Excellent clam chowder. Good friendly service. You need to book ahead as it gets very busy.

“Late dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

We headed to this restaurant which is located maybe 50 yards only from our (Marriott) hotel after a very long (5 hours) drive from New Jersey. The restaurant was open late (after 10pm) and our waitress very welcoming despite the late hour.
My fish chowder was a bit flat but my spouse enjoyed her oysters. The grilled and blackened Atlantic char was excellent and the grilled seafish platter made my wife happy.
We both enjoyed a glass of Sancerre and were all set for a night of sleep after a stressful day.

“Overall a Good Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

The atmosphere is very nice here. It is located on the waterfront with outdoor dining available and the inside is very pretty and upbeat at night. My clam chowder was excellent. My seafood casserole was good but had some seafood in it that was tough and chewy. It was either the lobster or the scrod. The scallops in it were very tender and sweet and the sauce was excellent. My kale with yogurt and nuts was not cut up well and very tough and chewy. My husbands fried oysters were very good. Our Boston cream pie was delicious and had a different twist. I would recommend eating inside at night and outside for lunch as it gets cool being on the water. Our waiter was excellent and made our evening very enjoyable. This chain has 8 locations throughout Boston. There is a very nice location in the Prudential Center that was near our hotel.

The food was good, but I thought the oyster House was better. Overall it was pretty good. Very busy every night. We all got the lobster. The clam chowder was good as well
