“A very nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

We stayed 3 nights at the Loews at the end of our New England holiday. The hotel is very, nice, clean and comfortable and the staff are very helpful. Our room was not exactly large but had everything we needed. We didn't really need to use it, but if we had, the air conditioning was too noisy to leave on at night and even when switched off, managed to click and gurgle at odd times. The amount of free tea and coffee in the room was also a bit mean I thought.
Location wise, the Loews is a bit out of the main hubbub but everything is reasonably easy to walk to.
I guess overall, if we went back to Boston I would check out other hotels before rebooking the Loews, but if i had to say there again, I wouldn't be disappointed.

Great hotel in transition with a lot of potential. Great customer service but the restaurants are not up to par.

This hotel used to be the Back Bay hotel and has been recently been bought out by Loews and renamed to the Loews Boston hotel.
We stayed at the Back Bay hotel back in 2010 and love it (both the hotel and the restaurants). We had a bit of a noise issue in our room (water sounds) and when I was asked to do a survey of the hotel I mentioned it. The general manager at the time sent me a nice email and said to contact him the next time we're going to be in Boston as he'll make sure to take care of us. We recently decided to go back to Boston with our toddler and wanted to stay at the same hotel. It's been 3 years, the general manager is gone and the name has changed. I figured it was worth a try anyway. My husband made fun of me for even calling as he was sure I wouldn't get a call back. I did however get a call back and was told that they would make sure we would have a good stay (whatever that meant).

We arrived early from the Airport but our room was ready for early check in, the crib was already there and setup and it seemed that we were upgraded to a higher level king than the one we had booked. The staff was very warm and friendly towards us and our toddler. The room was still noisy due to road noise but I guess that can't be helped in the city. We also received a "welcome and good to have you back" fruit basket which was a nice touch. I would say that's excellent customer service considering it's not even the same hotel as before :)

Overall, our stay was great. The place is in need of a bit of a facelift but I believe that this is happening soon. The whole hotel is about to undergo a big renovation by Loew's. It would be interesting to see what will become of it over the next year or so.

One thing i didn't like is that the staff wore name tag that show where they're from. I've seen this on a cruise ship before, I don't like the practice myself.

We ate at both the Stanhope grill and Cuffs, we found both to be very sub par and the staff is in desperate need of training. More on that in separate restaurant review.

My overall experience was good. The bed was comfortable the bathroom nice but no bath. The only disappointment was it was a small room apparently normal for Boston. The furniture for the TV was too big for the room taking up much needed space. Overall great staff and we turned up at 10am with luggage and they had a room ready for us by 10.30 and called us as soon as we could check-in, very impressive as check-in is 4pm. Added bonus for me was I needed a Doctor and Loews has a 24 hour concierge doctor on call. Very helpful but expensive. We were there over a weekend and it was very expensive for the value.

We stayed here for 4 nights last week through Virgin holidays and really enjoyed our stay. We had a room on the 9th floor which was both very quiet and very clean and comfortable. ( Very big shower.) We had no complaints with the room. The concierge were very helpful in recommending both restaurants and bars for us to go to and also helped with directions.
Would defiantly stay here again no complaints at all.
Also the bar was good for a night cap before heading to bed after a long day.
Thank you for a lovely stay.

We stayed at Loew Hotel in May this year, and we had a fabulous time. The hotel is gorgeous, our room was so nice, the shower in particular was great. The staff at Loews are really friendly and helpful. We were surprised to learn that this hotel was the old Police station years ago!!! Would return to this hotel in a flash. The only draw back was the breakfast. We dined in here one morning, and it was absolutely delicious, but it was very expensive. Apart from this, everything else was great.

This hotel has it all, great staff, great rooms, excellent bar and breakfast room. Location, Location, Location. Close to great resturants, historical tours and public transportation (Bus and Subway). Keurig coffee/Tea maker was a nice touch, free coffee and tea in the room. The bathrooms are spacious and beautiful. We thought the beds and pillows were perfect, we slept very well. The hotel itself has a rich history, it was once the Boston Police Headquarters. The location could not be better. A short walk to the common, north end, great shopping etc. The price was more reasonable that the other hotels nearby. I would definately return if I were to return to Boston.

The hotel exceeded our expectations. The front desk staff and bellmen were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and had a large shower which was a bonus. The hotel is in a great location and is in walking distance to most attractions.

We ate in the hotel bar 'Cuffs' which was tasty and well priced.

The only negative point was the cost of parking as it was very expensive at $42 per day.
