“Amazing!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

This place is amazing! My room was so opulent. I loved the aromatic bathroom accessories and bathrobe. It's also very central to most of the sights and sounds of Boston. The hotel building itself is beautiful, and the staff are helpful.

The service was simply impeccable from the waiters in the hotel restaurant, the bar area, the concierge, the bell staff, all were simply amazing. Probably the best service we have had overall in a long time!

Great location, double room is somewhat small, and the bathroom light is not as bright as I would like for makeup and shaving, but overall the experience was excellent.

This hotel just recently was bought by Loews. In fact, some of the cab drivers and the Amtrak station did not know where it was.

However, not only was the hotel inexpensive for Boston, it was a true jewel. It was quiet, clean, spacious, the staff were superb, and everything was pleasant.

If you need to be in Boston Back Bay near the Boston Commons,or the Convention Center, I highly recommend you stay here.

Room Tip: King non-smoking was great and no more than King or Standard.

Dear clunce,

We greatly appreciate you taking the time to post a review of your experience with us and thak you very much for not only the extremely kind comments, bit for also rating us a ‘5’! We will be sure to share your comments with our entire team.

We also appreciate your comments regarding brand recognition. Interestingly, we hosted a ‘Cab Driver Appreciation Day about a month ago where we handed out almost 300 boxed lunches to cab driver, giving away books of blank cab receipts, with the purpose being to improve our brand awareness. We supplemented that by running a three month ad in the Carriage News, a local monthly newspaper only for cab drivers. I guess we’ve got to try harder and be more creative! Your comments also stirred a conversation amongst our Sales team and we will now be paying a visit to the Amtrak booths next week with some sweet goodies! We appreciate you noting an area we will can make an impact.

Many thanks and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back soon!

Don't be fooled by the name - this was just changed to a Loews. It does not have all the bells and whistles that you expect from a Loews. Hotel is in a great location and has a terrific downstairs bar "Cuffs". The room was a nice size and quite comfortable. If you want a nice 4 star hotel with old Boston charm centrally located - give it a try.

Dear Eugeniouss,

Thank you very much for your review and I appreciate your comments on your room and our bar. And, as you mentioned, the location is perfect! While we became a Loews hotel 90 days ago and do have an extensive renovation planned to begin the end of this year, I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on where we fall short of the Loews brand, especially if it is in our service delivery. Please feel free to email me directly at john.maibach@loewshotels.com if you have time.

We appreciate your time to post a review and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back soon!

I stayed for one night on business and while the room was somewhat small, you couldn't beat the location. Many landmarks were within walking distance; Boston Common, Fenway, etc. The hotel staff was nice, courteous, and helpful. Worth another visit the next time I'm in town for work.

Dear craigstravels5,

We greatly appreciate you taking the time to post a terrific review of your experience at our property. In our business, there is nothing better than to hear a guest say that we have earned their loyalty. We understand the multitude of options in our neighborhood for you to stay and we don’t take your decision to stay with us lightly. While are thrilled that we have earned your loyalty, we also realize we must work even harder to keep it.

Thank you again for your kind comments and we very much look forward to welcome you back soon!

business trip, booked as close to conference at a good price.
Room is adequate size for one... Might be tight for more people.
The room is a little dark and looks out onto a central courtyard with views into other people's rooms.
Very comfortable bed... Pillows a but flat...shower fantastic.
Nice to have a fridge for my own purchases from nearby cvs.
I would recommend.
Restaurant was great.

Room Tip: Maybe a room looking out to street rather than central....

Dear jplum73,

Thank you very much for your review and we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with others. I am particularly pleased that you enjoyed our restaurant, Stanhope Grille. When Loews took over on February 11, we felt our most immediate opportunity was with food- presentation, quality, taste …. We relocated the Executive Chef from our property in Annapolis and Chef Olivier has made tremendous strides in improving the food quality in a very short time. With a new menu about to be rolled out before the end of May, we are very excited to share his creations with all (I highly recommend the Lobster roll or Steak Frittes!!!)! And while we do have plans to renovate the bar/restaurant area the end of this year, we will not wait to improve the experience and feel we have made a dramatic improvement in a short time. We greatly appreciate you noting that experience as making a great impression.

Thank you again for your kind comments and we very much look forward to welcome you back soon!

Our two double beds just barely squeezed into the room. The hotel is nice but the room was very tight for two adults and one teen. The location was great for walking to restaurants and shops, and only a short drive to Northeastern University for an Admitted Student visit.
