“Best Italian Sub Ever - and I've been to Italy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2014

Do not miss this authentic mecanto in the North End. Owned by the Mendoza Brothers, they import everything right from the motherland. The shop looks just like a Florentine shop, with cured meats and cheeses on display. Sandwiches are not listed, just ask. The Italian sub, with three different kinds of meats, arugula, buttery mozzarella, balsamic vinegar on crispy, soft, perfectly baked Italian baguette is a culinary revelation.

Perfection. I'll be sure to check out the homemade pastas in their family restaurants the next time I'm in town: Vinoteca di Monica and Trattoria di Monica.

“Best meal in Boston”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2014

After a couple of days in Boston accumulating terrible food experiences, in our last day there we're just trying to find a bakery to have a simple sandwich. No expectations.
We ended up in a bakery in the Italian neighborhood but it had no sandwiches. But the owner was very kind and recommended us a place around the corner, Monica's Mercato. She told that there we could get really good sandwiches. She was right.
We had the small ($8) and big caprese ($11). It was delicious. Fresh bread with tomato, fresh mozzarella and prosciutto.
Our best meal in Boston.

Ideal spot to buy really good deli times, cheeses, olives, olive oils and balsamic vinegar.
The staff is very helpful and willing to answer questions.
It is well worth a visit.

“Top Italian Sub in Boston”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

If you're in the mood for a top shelf Italian style sub sandwich then this is your destination in the North End of Boston. This small shop hand slices their premium quality Italian cold cuts to order for your sandwich. The counter men will gently lay they freshly sliced meats and veggies onto a freshly baked roll. The sub roll is one of the best I've had in Boston, crispy on the outside, soft and chewy in the center providing the perfect frame for the marriage of meats, cheeses and veggies. They offer two sizes small and large. I would recommend the small as it's more than enough for a filling lunch.
