“A Home Run”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed today NEW

We just returned from 5 days in Boston as guest of the Hotel Commonwealth. My daughter and I traveled there from a rural community on the West Coast, and put a lot of research into where to stay. We couldn’t be more pleased with our decision to stay at the Commonwealth. It begins and ends at the front desk where the friendly and exceptional staff ensures that your experience is positive, and your requests are met from the opening pitch, until the last ball. (Excuse the metaphor, we’re baseball fans.) We found all the staff helpful with our subway questions, events and tours, but were especially impressed with Shawn. We expressed an interest in traveling to Plymouth Rock- he went over all our travel options and then arranged to have a rental car delivered to the hotel for our convenience. It couldn’t have been made easier. Yes, the rooms are immaculate, the bedding comfortable, the robes luxurious, and the keurig coffee the best idea ever. All this was great to come back to after an activity- filled day. With the “T” conveniently located next door, and walking directions provided by the staff, we were able to see everything we wanted on what I consider a trip of a lifetime. We toured Fenway Park, and saw a game, walked the Freedom Trail, did the Old Town Trolley Tour, walked Newbury Street, saw Harvard, took the Harbor Cruise, went to Cheers, McGreevy’s, the Commons, The North End, and Copley Square, just to name a few. Thank-you Shawn, and the rest of the front desk staff for seeing that we had the most wonderful time in your beautiful city.

Just returned from an three-night stay at the Hotel Commonwealth. I was very pleased with the attentiveness of the staff (in every facet -- front desk, housekeeping, the staff at the front door) the cleanliness of the hotel (especially my room), and the convenience of the location to public transportation, restaurants and of course, Fenway Park (which I visited on Sunday).

The only item that kept this visit tom being a "5" was I was not overly impressed with their Fitness Center -- which consisted of some cardio equipment, some free weights, and a multi-gym squished into an small area on the third floor. I assume this is due to the construction being engaged in by the hotel.

Room Tip: I was on the Commonwealth Avenue side (right across from the Citgo sign). I thought it was great!

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We are so pleased that our staff were attentive to your needs and you were well taken care of. It's great to hear that overall your stay was a positive one, however I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your experience in our Fitness Center. We are about to embark on an extensive update to our Fitness Center and I am certain that upon a return visit you will find our facility to be first class in this area.

We look forward to welcoming you back often.

The most notable features of this hotel are in the title, sincere staff & it's proximity to Fenway. Fenway park is about a three minute walk. Regardless of position the staff here is extremely friendly, soft spoken, and helpful.

Most hotel lobbies are decorated to look good, this one is inviting, cozy, creative, and perhaps the nicest I have seen. This must have been created by a top designer.

The rooms were very clean. This is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in at a hotel. I would like to know exactly what pillow I slept on because I want one. I checked for labels and didn't have any luck. We had a Fenway view room. At the time of our visit they were doing an addition which would add new structure in front of the room we stayed in. I do not know what will happen to our room's view in the future. It seems the new construction will be the 'Fenway' view rooms and the current Fenway will be staring at the back of the new addition. Be sure to check into the room view when booking.

There is a Starbucks and a Dunkin Donuts at the street level of the hotel so most people will have access to their morning coffee :)

Even though we stayed three nights we did not have a chance to eat at any restaurants in the hotel or even make it to the bar here.

So many thanks for taking the time to share your review. It is always such a pleasure to read a review like yours. To answer a couple of your points, our pillows are from pacific coast, they can be purchased online at pacificcoast.com, we have both king and queen size on our beds and they are a hypoallergenic down fill. You mentioned our expansion, which we are so excited about, I am pleased to share that many of our existing rooms with a Fenway Park view will remain with their view in tact and we will be adding several more rooms per floor with an even closer view of Fenway when our new building opens. These rooms will be very special and some will feature unique Red Sox memorabilia that we can not wait to share with our guests.

Thank you for your very kind words about our staff, we are so fortunate to have a group of very special and dedicated hospitality professionals working here who make it their number one priority to ensure every guest has the best possible experience when they stay here. It's wonderful validation for them when a guest recognizes that and we are grateful for the feedback.

We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back again very soon.

Good location, big clean rooms, a very inviting lobby and very professional staff. We had a great two night stay, with the shopping district in walking distance and the hub for bike rental in front of the hotel (perfect for heading downtown).

We initially chose the hotel Commonwealth because of its proximity to Fenway, as we were in Boston to see a Red Sox game, and it was perfect for that purpose. We are walking people and love architecture so we found the location of the hotel perfect to see some of the areas history. The hotel is located in a very nice part of the town near New Berry Street. All of the staff at the hotel were very kind and helpful. The room had taller ceilings than most hotels we have been to. The height if the ceilings makes the room feel more spacious. When we wandered too far from the hotel and the walk back was going to take too long, the hotel was conveniently locate on the "T", Boston's rail line transportation. The price of the room was fair for the quality of the accommodations and on our next trip to Boston, we will be returning to the Hotel Commonwealth.

How wonderful to read your recent review of your stay here. Our location on the edge of the Back Bay and in such close proximity to Fenway Park makes us ideally situated for visitors to the city and baseball fans. As walkers I am sure you found the Boston to be so wonderful at this time of year and I hope the weather held out well for you. Indeed the location of the subway is so convenient for access to all areas of the city when a walk is too much. Thank you for choosing stay with us and for taking the time to share your thoughts and feedback.

My husband and i stayed here for my birthday and were happy with the staff attention to detail. They upgraded us to a big suite since there were no kings available and sent a nice Sauvignon blanc to the room since it was my birthday. Highly recommend eastern standard kitchen and drinks as well, located on the first floor and connecting to the hotel.

We always try to stay at the Commonwealth when in Boston and always have a wonderful experience when we do. The staff is friendly, helpful and efficient. The rooms are comfortable, clean, spacious, and the beds and pillows are amazing. The on-site restaurants are great, and Fenway is a stone's throw away. It is also only a few blocks to Newbury St., shopping malls and a wide variety of restaurants. If you want to travel a bit further, there is a T station just in front of the hotel. They have recently redecorated, and I love the change. During busy times it can be difficult to book a room, but they are building an addition which will add 95 more rooms (I think that's the number...). I can't wait to see the finished product!

It was such a pleasure to read such a positive review from a long standing guest. It's so wonderful to hear that you are enjoying all of the updates we have made to our guest rooms and public space and we can't wait to share our new guest rooms with you. Our expansion will feature some very special additions to the property including rooms with an even more superior view of Fenway Park and one very special Fenway Park Suite with spectacular views, in addition we will showcase our new meeting and event space with over 10,000 square feet of space.

We so look forward to welcoming you back soon!
