“A very nice stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

The staff was so friendly and the room was really pretty. The gym facilities were fine (everything worked). Room service was great. The Eastern Standard is a must (try the butterscotch bread pudding) In all, no complaints. I would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: shoot the lock off your wallet and pay for a nice room

We would absolutely stay here again! The staff was very helpful and polite, our room looked exactly as the photo showed and the location was perfect. The room was a very nice size, had comfortable beds and nice linens. We walked to BU for a college tour, Fenway for a baseball game and walked to Back Bay. We did not get in our car until it was time to go home.

It's a great Kenmore Square location for Fenway Park, Back Bay, Boston University and then the T subway station just steps away to get anywhere else. The staff was extremely hospitable with useful information about how to get around and local sights. The room was large and well-equipped and despite being on a relatively busy street was surprisingly quiet. I have found Boston to be a remarkably expensive hotel market and the Commonwealth's rates are no exception, but at least in their case the high rates get you a luxurious experience and sense of place.

Have stayed at Hotel Commonwealth several times and once again I was impressed. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. They are probably my favorite part of visiting this hotel. They truly make you feel at home. Love the newly refurbished lobby!

Pluses: Great location; great bar (The Hawthorne is full of awesome); Rooms are large, well appointed, comfortable, and clean.

Minuses: Service is shaky. Our room was not ready when we checked in (after the check-in time), and had to settle for a different room than our reservation (double vs. king, non-view vs. view). The clerk tried to sell us an upgrade. That set a bad tone for us - we had a 3 month reservation that they screwed up and they tried to upsell us? Please.

We loved this hotel. The newly refurbished room was gorgeous, very classy and a great size. The location was great. 5 mins walk to Newbury Street. Attached to the hotel are 2 fabulous places to eat, Island Creek Oyster Bar and Eastern Standard. The oyster bar was incredible. Great food, service, music and and atmosphere. ES was more relaxed with equally great food and atmosphere. The people on the front desk were incredibly friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back and would not hesitate recommending it.
