“Beautiful Hotel in a Fabulous Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

The Hotel Commonwealth is elegant, wonderfully comfortable and perfectly located. The service is warm, cheerful and efficient. It is clear why it is TripAdvisor’s #1 rated hotel in Boston.

The hotel is elegant with plush bedding, beautiful furniture and bright, spotless bathrooms. The rooms are silent and spacious. While it is far from the cheapest hotel in Boston, it is an excellent value. Complimentary Wi-Fi rounds out the package.

The hotel is located a few blocks from Fenway Park, which makes it ideal if you are in town to catch a Red Sox game. The hotel entrance is 100 feet from the Kenmore T Station (no… you cannot hear the subway) placing the entire city of Boston at your disposal. The subway ride to Government Center (Faneuil Hall, Union Oyster House, North End) takes about 10 minutes and costs $2.50. The great shopping on Newbury and Boylston Streets is a 10 minute walk.

I could go on, but there is no need. If you are looking for a fabulous hotel with easy access to the Boston subway, then this is the best choice in town.

From the moment we arrived, this place was great! The doorman, Nick, was sooo nice! Every hotel should have a Nick, he was a great first impression. The hotel itself is beautiful. We stayed in a double queen room with a view of Fenway and it was large enough for our family of 4. I can't say enough about the friendliness of the staff, they went above and beyond for everything. They provided everything we requested and quick. The room was super clean. We ate at both restaurants and they too were fantastic. It was right next to the metro which made it easy to get around. We would definitely stay there again, a wonderful hotel for families.

The staff's interaction with customers, professionalism and attention to superb service in addition to the landmark location was well worth the cost of the hotel. Even received outstanding tips from the doorman throughout our stay!

Room Tip: Higher level rooms are likely more quiet than lower level rooms.

Spent the night at the Commonwealth while attending a game at Fenway. Great spot! The room was updated and clean. REALLY comfortable bed! The Eastern Standard is a great eatery. One of the best burgers anywhere. The only short fall was that we asked the front desk to put us on the wait list at ES but it didn't happen which made for tight dining prior to game time. I asked for turn down service and did not get that. It was a very busy weekend at the hotel but those are some pretty standard and somewhat simplistic requests that were not processed correctly. Overall, great place and we will be back again.

Quality place......very very clean. You can tell they work overtime to keep the place looking perfect. Great location with T stop next to the building, walking distance to Fenway, Museum of Fine Art and Starbucks. Friendly and helpful staff.

Not only was the Fenway room superb in every way but the service at the hotel was impeccable. From the doorman to the room service, front desk and concierge, they all made our stay memorable in small ways. The only small dark spot in the stay was the service in the American Standard restaurant, our waitress was surly and unfriendly, did not smile and I had to ask another waitress to bring more coffee and water....the service there certainly did not match that of the hotel. Thanks for a wonderful two nights stay.....we will be back!

Took the "T" Blue & Green lines from the airport for $2. Drops you next to the door to the hotel. Walked to Fenway Park in 5 minutes. Also walked to the Yawkey "T" Commuter Rail station for my Amtrak connection without problem. The hotel is nice but way over priced. I've stayed @ Disneyland for less in the Summer. The girl @ the lobby counter was nice but too chatty. Elevators are great for security but a hassle. Ice machine didn't work. Eastern Standard Kitchen is noisey & doesn't allow you to put the meal charge on your room bill.
