“The best place to stay when visiting Boston!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2012

We love staying at Hotel Commonwealth whenever we visit Boston. The staff is so courteous and they are always prepared to make your visit the most pleasurable. My 4 year old was having a fit after a sleepless red-eye and the staff wheeled out a wagon full of little toys for him - it was a lifesaver! The Fenway 100th Anniversary package was great. We loved the gift basket and tickets to tour the ballpark. Just above Kenmore station, the location couldn't be more convenient.

I recently stayed at this hotel for a business trip. It was the hotel chosen by the session organizers at Boston University so I had a block room rate under $300. I had a very enjoyable stay and would consider staying here again.

Its in a central location in the Back Bay area and right in front of the T stop (Kenmore). Its a couple of stops to Fenway or Copley and you can also take to Quincy Market so I'd say the location was good. Its in a busy and safe area of town so I never felt worried. Catching a cab is no problem as the doormen can get one for you and I always saw taxis coming and going from the hotel.

The staff was always very helpful and polite. The bellhops, doorman and reception desk where all very professional and check out was a breeze. The room was spacious and of pretty high quality. It has 2 flat screen TVs, comfortable bed and two lounging chairs facing the TV and window. I had a window facing Commonwealth.

I was pleasantly surprised by the formal desk which came in handy for business use. Free wired and wireless internet. Two TVs, one in front of the bed and one in the desk/lounge area. There was a curtain that you can draw to separate the sleeping are, I suppose if a spouse has to work late while the order wants to get some sleep.

The bathroom is very nice. Spacious with a separate room for the toilet for privacy, two sinks, plenty of towels and a bath/shower. It has a mini-bar. The only things it didn't have is a refrigerator and a coffee machine. Neither of these were problems at all but sometimes we look for these when traveling with the family. It has an in-room safe, iron and hair dryer so you are covered on those basics.

There is a pretty good restaurant right downstairs as well (Eastern Standard) and a Yelp highly rated seafood restaurant called the Island Creek Oyster Bar. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to eat there.

We stayed at the Hotel Commonwealth for a long family weekend over the 100th Anniversary of Fenway Park. It was truly amazing! We have stayed in many 4 & 5 star hotels in many parts of the world and this was definitely of the cleanest, friendliest, most professional and comfortable hotels in which we have ever stayed. It is also located just a block and 1/2 from Fenway Park as well as many fantastic restaurants and Boston attractions. We were able to either walk or obtain transportation with ease from the hotel. We would definitely stay there again and are very comfortable recommending it to others.

This hotel is nicely located right across from Fenway and has immediate access to the T (subway) which is also across the street. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, was prompt to solve an odd TV issue I had and courteous.
My only negatives was the decor of the room wasn't to my liking -but it was nicely styled for the New England setting; parking was $42 per night, OUCH!; and it's location from main arteries as driving to the hotel can be a little confusing.
But the Hotel Commonwealth in on point for the essentials: a comfortable bed, complimentary internet, nice in-room amenities (flat screen TV, partner desk, iPod radio, phone charging station, above avg shower head) and high quality restaurants adjoining the hotel. I would stay here again and would recommend it to others.

The Hotel Commonwealth was the perfect location for a long weekend in Boston. We were attending orientation at BU, a baseball game at Fenway, and apartment shopping in Back Bay. Everything was with in walking distance. Although it is pricey, accommodations are comfortable and the staff is excellent. Well worth the price!

Beautiful hotel in a great area. We loved our room with a view of Fenway Park. Everything was spotlessly clean and in great condition. I had called a few times before we arrived and everyone was so polite and helpful that my expectations for the hotel were very high - and they delivered! They asked if we would like a Keurig in our room, YES, restocked with coffee and tea everyday :-) They knew we were traveling with a baby and had a refrig in the room as well. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We asked a ton of questions about using the T and walking to different areas and they always steered us in the right direction. There is a T station 20 feet outside of the hotel. You can easily walk to Newbury Street, the Prudential Center and Fenway from this hotel. We had to call housekeeping for 2 different things (pack N play and pillows) both times they were at our room within 5 minutes with what we needed. Housekeeping was very friendly as were the door men. We traveled with our 3 kids ages 11, 9 and 2. They loved to hotel and especially the comp computer room off of the lobby. We look forward to staying at the Hotel Commonwealth on future trips to Boston. Thanks for a great stay!!!

Room Tip: If you are a Red Sox fan, get a Fenway Room. Theres nothing like waking up to the park every mornin...
