“Best Hotel Stay ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2011

I recently stayed at Hotel Commonwealth for a business trip. The staff at the hotel was extremely helpful and accommodating. The room I was provided for the night was definitely the most luxurious room, outside of European castle stays, that I have ever personally enjoyed! The area is lovely and close to so many great things to do. The hotel also connects to a fabulous restaurant that I would visit even if I wasn't staying there. I don't know if I could ever enjoy staying anywhere else in Boston again after staying at Hotel Commonwealth. It was made my business trip a dream!

This was my first time in the hotel, and my biggest regret is that it was a business trip that allowed me to be there only one night. The jr suite was fantastic, the bed and linens and robe extremely comfortable, and the room was probably the cleanest hotel room I've been in in years. The staff, as other reviewers have said, is friendly and professional, and I couldn't have asked for more. When I go back to Boston I intend to stay there again; it will be my first choice. I did not get to eat dinner in the hotel restaurants, but one of my business colleagues who lives in Boston said that they are excellent spots. The location is perfect.

My wife and I stayed over a weekend. The staff is very professional and welcoming and very attentive to details. They even communicated that it was our anniversary to their on-premises restaurant. Nice touch.
The room had a great view of Kenmore Square and the bed and pillows were heavenly. We were in a Jr. Suite and the bathroom is fantastic with a large walk-in rain shower and huge Jacuzzi tub.
You are within taxi or public transportation distance of al that is worthwhile seeing in Boston.
It's a gem in Boston.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing Commonwealth Ave. It's a great panorama of Kenmore Sq., the famous Citgo...

The Commonwealth is one of the better hotels in Boston in terms of comfort and style, but what makes it the place to stay is the service and location. Right under the lights of Fenway, a short walk to many of the colleges near here, or Newbury Street and Boylston for shopping, this location provides a great central point to visit Boston. Additionally, the T stop is right outside the door, to open up the rest of the city. From the moment you walk in the front door, you are treated to an excellent standard of service. The entire staff is friendly, not overbearing, and happy to help out with any small thing. They thought of everything. Umbrellas in the room, good hairdryers, make up mirrors, the junior suites have 2TVs for easy viewing, and either side of the hotel provides an interesting view. The Fenway view is for sports fans, and the front offers a look over busy Commonwealth Ave. No crappy self made coffee. Room service brings real coffee, real cream, on time with a friendly smile. Eastern Standard is an excellent restaurant as well, that offers a comfortable atmosphere, with upscale food. The bartenders know their stuff. I am a repeat guest and will continue to recommend them..

Room Tip: Haven't had a bad room yet, but the jr suites are spacious and I prefer the city view

I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Boston area. Clean rooms, sharp linen and a complementry turndown service with nice chocolates. The doormen were very polite, greated and opened doors for you everytime. Sam (Concierge) went beyond the call by organising my Patriots game tickets and return train tickets to Foxboro. A very enjoyable stay in a great location, made better by the free upgraded room. We also ate in the hotels Eastern standard restaurant twice which was great food at a reasonable price.

This hotel has accounted for all of the details of comfort without being ostentatious. Everything from the service to the linens is excellent. The restaurant (Eastern Standard) is one of the best in Boston as well. My only complaint is the alarm clocks. If figuring out how to set the alarm doesn't keep you up late, the beaming clock face certainly will. My message to Commonwealth: change the clocks and you will achieve hotel nirvana.

Room Tip: I have stayed in four different rooms, all flawless (except the alarm clocks). I prefer the front r...

This hotel was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at in Boston. Great location (walking distance) to Fenway Park. Room service was excellent and the doormen and bell service were extremely helpful. I was trveling with a 93 year old WW2 veteran and they assisted with every door, taxi loading and unloading and information about the city.

Room Tip: Get a room facing Fenway Park if you are a sports fan...
