“Room had been used and was unsafe”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2014

I stayed here in March 2014 for my sister's wedding (I was matron of honor). The room I was given had a terrible view overlooking an industrial looking rooftop. It is prob a nice view in the summer since I think it's a rooftop garden in season. My bigger problem was that when I entered my room, it was obvious someone had been in there. The bed was made but you could tell someone had sat at the top/leaned on the pillow. A couple things from the minibar were out and opened on a table. A soap had been used. The hotel was mortified but I had to go to my sister the bride's room to change since we had the rehearsal dinner and they needed to re-service the room, so I couldn't even get ready in my own room. The hotel's excuse? "someone must've checked out and then used their key again." Why wouldn't the key be de-activated upon check-out???? That's an incredible safety breach.

Other than that, the room itself was nice. The wedding, at the hotel, was beautiful. But not the Ritz service I know.

Nice staff; pleasant room; great location. Good amenities (eg separate tub/shower), though a few things could be improved. It was awkward to open and close the sun blinds, and the Bose radio-CD player had no connector for ipods. It would be better to include coffee-makers in all rooms. Terrible restaurant. As noted below, pancakes made of cement; my French toast was burnt (replaced, breakfast comped); also, service slow. Other food was over-salted, and not by just a little.

Spent two nights at the Ritz on business, didn't get to spend much time at the hotel itself but the room was large and very comfortable. Bathroom had a separate standing shower and bathtub. The gym is separate to the hotel but accessible via the same lift, it is a huge gym with lots of classes, cardio equipment and weights. I didn't get a chance to use them but the changing rooms in the gym also have a steam room and sauna. Overall great experience, with friendly and helpful staff. Will return.

Reading the reviews....I was not sure what to expect. I only stayed one night, but found the staff to be super friendly! I was pleasantly surprised at the warmth exhibited by the bellman, front desk, housekeeping, maintenance. It was within walking distance to key attractions, restaurants, shopping, train, etc...The room was super clean, great bed, awesome shower, and had a beautiful view of the park. I cannot comment on the restaurant or bar... I will be back.

Tucked away on a side street a block from Boston Commons, this property is what I expect from a luxury hotel. I stayed one night on business and checked in mid-day, when it was quiet so check in was a breeze.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. My room smelled like smoke and they immediately switched me to a new room after apologizing for this.

The room was a nice size, the bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. Overall, this was a great stay and I will return on my future trips to Boston.

Arrived on Saturday, Apr. 19 for Marathon Weekend. Was hoping this would be an outstanding hotel as we were spending alot of money for the Junior Suite room. My daughter and husband decided to stay with us and sleep in the sofa bed. As she was 5 mos pregnant and running on Monday, the bed needed to be comfortable. Unfortunately, it was extremely uncomfortable as my husband discovered when he went to check it out. He worked with the front desk clerk and housekeeping to try to make it better. They sent up a rollaway as backup and placed a board under the mattress between the springs so the springs were not felt. All in all, they did everything they could, and it worked out fine. Just be forewarned about the sofa bed. It might not bother a child at all. We must commend the front desk clerk. He was wonderful, and it seemed like he really cared! We were also thrilled to discover a complimentary bottle of Vieuv Cliquot (sp?) on ice when we got back to our room. Wow. Impressive! The hotel was quiet and comfortable, and the master bathroom was wonderful. Housekeeping did an outstanding job as well. The Avery Bar was super fun and comfortable. Jiny, one of the bartenders, is an amazing drink artist. The only odd thing was the bar was closed on Sunday. Weird. My main complaint about the hotel and the reason why I gave it 4 rather than 5 starts was the Artisan Bistro Restaurant. The service was very poor, and the food wasn't great. Ordered blueberry pancakes one morning, and they were tough. Almost couldn't cut them with a knife. Also, had to request coffee refills. For some reason, I got the feeling that this restaurant is not owned and operated by Ritz. It just seemed to struggle, and as it is the only restaurant in the hotel, we were kind of stuck. The New York Yankees stayed the night on our last day. The location is wonderful for the sights, and the Marathon activities. It was kind of a splurge, but it was a trip we will never forget. Booked reservations already for next year. Hope they get the restaurant worked out!

Stayed September 2013. Other than location, was not impressed with hotel. Valet parked 2 cars and was charged for 3 after departure. Spoke with front desk and was told to speak with accounting. Left 3 messages. Phone call was never returned and money was never refunded. Decided to finally leave review as we are preparing to return to the area and remembered our experience.
