“An Oasis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

We really liked the Ritz-Carlton Boston Common. The service was fantastic (can't understand how they remember so many names!) and the room was clean and comfortable. The restaurant in the hotel (Artisan) was really good, and extremely accommodating. They seem to have many things not listed on the menu - gluten free bread, turkey bacon, etc. Just ask - they seem to have whatever you would want!
Although the online site says that they have a fitness club and pool in the hotel, this is only partially true. It is a separate entity - Sport Club/LA - and if they're open, then it's an amazing option. The club was huge, the equipment seemed to go on for miles. But you're at the mercy of their schedule, not the Ritz'. We were there over July 4, and the club was closed.
Upon checking into the hotel, we were encouraged to add a $100 per day package, because it includes "parking ($46 per day), breakfast, sport club, etc." We agreed to this, not realizing that breakfast was included only up to $54 per day - if we went over this, then it was on us. Also, the club & pool are included anyway, and were closed on the 4th! There was absolutely no advantage to us in buying this upgrade. It only ensured the hotel that we were staying there for breakfast. When we realized the sports club was closed on the 4th, we were told by the young man at Registration, "I can get you into the pool at the Regency" meaning the Hyatt Regency around the corner, which has a reciprocal agreement with the Ritz, apparently. We were not being given any special treatment, believe me. We went to the pool at the Hyatt. It was very unpleasant - only 4 lounge chairs, and many screaming kids...very crowded. We left without dipping a toe in the water.
Overall, we really liked the Ritz. It's in a great, central location. The staff was very nice, accommodating and attentive. We just felt a bit misled over the sports club & pool thing. We wouldn't have booked it at all, had we known that we wouldn't have access to either on 7/4.

This hotel has beautiful rooms, great location and the most comfortable beds. The service however is no better than a Fairfield which is very uncommon for the Ritz. So, if you are just looking for a comfortable bed to sleep in I recommend this property. If you are looking to be wow'd with service then i recommend you shop around

This was an extremely comfortable hotel. Our guest room was large and welcoming. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever stayed in, and I travel extensively. The location was good, but when walking around at night, I would just be aware of my surroundings. I would stay here again, for sure.

We went for my wifes birthday and all was as expected from a Ritz Carlton. Huge gym facility was a bargain at 15/day. Our suite was great and the hotels location was ideal. Near 2 T stops. We would most definately go back to this hotel.

We have stayed at the ritz in Boston 4 times now and it never disappoints. Caroline the concierge and Steven (?) at the registration were wonderful. Even the valet Azziz and the door man were great. The room and bed was comforting, bathroom awesome and the club lounge wonderful- great food and drinks. 3 minor issues: the room we stayed in had a carpet stain next to the bed which looked like they tried to wash it but didn't make it. The second issue we reserved the club floor but they put us on floor 9 not on the 12th floor, the club floor. It was ok but not exactly what we reserved. The last issue was in the club lounge, although the staff was attentive when there, the two people were often in the back room for extended periods of time. Several guests walked in and out looking for some assistance, saw no one and walked out.
Like I said, very minor knit picky but things you should be aware of.

Nice hotel. Rooms and location are good. The coffee in the morning is fantastic. Service is top notch..when my wife wanted fruit one night after a restaurant meal, the front desk sent up a plate of blueberries, apples, and oranges free of charge. Everyone at the hotel was polite and helpful.

was recently in town visiting a customer for business and he recommended that i stay at the ritz for proximity. i have stayed at ritz carltons before, but this was my first time in the boston location.

after reading some of the reviews, some of the opinions were mixed, but i have to say my experience was absolutely without any issues.

i arrived on a late amtrak train (tried to save the company a few dollars by taking the regional train instead of the acela, which was a mistake), but finally got to the hotel close to midnight. i was greeted by reception and quickly checked in.

i'm not sure how i got this status, but i was granted access to the ritz club lounge, which is a different level of service.

the room was on the 11th floor (room 1141) and was probably considered a suite. everything was spacious, and room service was prompt even at that hour. the bed and bathroom were luxurious and made it easy to get a good night's rest.

the club lounge access allowed me to eat breakfast, lunch, and light snacks between meals on the 12th floor, as well as drinks and internet access. i would highly recommend the club lounge to anyone on business, as it really makes a difference. it really takes the convenience factor to another level, especially if you have to check out at 12 pm and need to stick around until the afternoon because of a later flight or train.

Room Tip: the LA sports club is in the same building. try to get a room at least two floors above the sports...
