We really liked the Ritz-Carlton Boston Common. The service was fantastic (can't understand how they remember so many names!) and the room was clean and comfortable. The restaurant in the hotel (Artisan) was really good, and extremely accommodating. They seem to have many things not listed on the menu - gluten free bread, turkey bacon, etc. Just ask - they seem to have whatever you would want!
Although the online site says that they have a fitness club and pool in the hotel, this is only partially true. It is a separate entity - Sport Club/LA - and if they're open, then it's an amazing option. The club was huge, the equipment seemed to go on for miles. But you're at the mercy of their schedule, not the Ritz'. We were there over July 4, and the club was closed.
Upon checking into the hotel, we were encouraged to add a $100 per day package, because it includes "parking ($46 per day), breakfast, sport club, etc." We agreed to this, not realizing that breakfast was included only up to $54 per day - if we went over this, then it was on us. Also, the club & pool are included anyway, and were closed on the 4th! There was absolutely no advantage to us in buying this upgrade. It only ensured the hotel that we were staying there for breakfast. When we realized the sports club was closed on the 4th, we were told by the young man at Registration, "I can get you into the pool at the Regency" meaning the Hyatt Regency around the corner, which has a reciprocal agreement with the Ritz, apparently. We were not being given any special treatment, believe me. We went to the pool at the Hyatt. It was very unpleasant - only 4 lounge chairs, and many screaming kids...very crowded. We left without dipping a toe in the water.
Overall, we really liked the Ritz. It's in a great, central location. The staff was very nice, accommodating and attentive. We just felt a bit misled over the sports club & pool thing. We wouldn't have booked it at all, had we known that we wouldn't have access to either on 7/4.
