“Menu Item #C11... Mini Juicy Buns with Pork (6)”
"WOW! These are amazingly good!" That's what I told my wife when I first tried one of these.
I've never had them before (the mini juicy buns). They look a little like the dumpling things you see in a chinese buffet labeled "dim sum". Inside is a tasty pork filling with yummy juices. You want to let these cool at least 5 minutes before you eat them. You carefully remove them from the bamboo steamer... don't let them tear open. Place the whole bun into your mouth and when you bite down you get a juicy explosion of wonderful flavor. Yes these are a mouthful, but you lose so much goodness if you try to rip these apart and separate them into nibble size portions. These buns come with a flavorful dipping sauce, but they taste exceptionally good on their own.
How much do I love and crave these? I'd have to put these mini juicy buns in my top 5 list of most craveable foods ever... just below Five Islands lobster and Godfather's Original Combo pizza. I personally crave these more than Ipswich clams or Coney Island style gyros... (my new top 5 craveable foods). Sorry Greater's Ice cream... you just got bumped to #6.
My wife and I also ordered a large wonton soup (the best wonton soup I've ever eaten as well), and some pork dumplings (very good). Everything we ordered came to less than $20 between the two of us and we were very satisfied. Of course, we were hungry an hour later, just as with most Chinese food dinners.
I'd rate Dumpling Cafe a solid, perfect 10, with the best Chinese food in my hometown of Flint Michigan falling to about a 5 or 6 on the scale compared to this place. The best Chinese food I've eaten in Michigan would probably only rank an 8.
If you find yourself in Boston's Chinatown, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND this place as a "can't miss".
