“College visit in near Theater District”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2014

We enjoyed our stay at the Doubletree. Parking is expensive (at $46 a day) added to the room expense but overall is the going rate at this type of hotel. The hotel rooms are very nice and supremely comfortable. As this hotel was within blocks of the college we were in Boston to visit, we adjusted to the fact that it was expensive for our purposes.

The hotel room was smaller than I thought but was comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff was nice and the restaurant down starts was good. I really liked the flat screen TV. The only 2 complaints. One is that the shower head was somewhat awkward and out of place to me and that a hospital was right by my window and emergency vehicles were frequent.

Stayed here one night before an important meeting. I had asked in advance for a quiet renovated room to relax before my meeting. Usually they cannot guarantee it, but I guess they made an exeption for a HH member, which was nice. I had a corner room, very quiet, renovated (many other rooms are said to be run down waiting to be renovated) - I was given the complimentary water for HH members, also a nice little gesture. I slept very well, room temperature was fine too and easily adjustable to the desired temperature.
Front desk staff was very friendly.
Negative: Breakfast room was FREEZING, they could not do anything about it for whatever reason. Not a good thing.

Room Tip: All I know is that the renovated rooms are very nice, and corner rooms on higher floors seem to be m...

Very friendly staff, warm cookies. Internet access is extremely expensive. $12.95/day/device. So 3 devices on 3 day stay costs $116.55. :) There is no refrigerator in the room. This was a surprise. Overall stay was really great.

The rooms were clean. The employees were helpful. The amenities were great, and the cookies were warm. The beds were cozy, and even thought the hotel was full, and the hotel was by a hospital, it was quiet. We loved that the hotel was close to the subway and Chinatown. The restaurant downstairs was excellent and relaxing.

We were in Boston for the first time, so our hotel choice was kind of a shot in the dark...but we were very satisfied. They had a problem with the cable while we were there, but they moved us to a new room, and all was good. Everyone was so helpful with recommendations and directions. And the cookies!!!

Stayed here for 2 nights in early April. We enjoyed the location as it was close to Chinatown and a few blocks from Boston Common (which is where you begin the freedom trail). The room was nice, clean and quiet. I will say that the service was not overly great. The front desk clerks forgot the cookie at arrival, the cleaning service left only one towel in the bathroom and when we called the front desk we were greeted with a "hello." Not a "Front Desk" or "thank you for calling the Double Tree."

Other things that surprised me was that papers were not delivered to the room and complementary in-room WiFi was limited to gold Hhonor members and above. I think this might be more of a DoubleTree thing and not a property specific issue.

Overall...room good...service below average. If you are looking for a quick trip to Boston, this spot is fairly central.

Note...I used hotel points for this stay...if I paid out of pocket I might have been more critical.
