The oysters here will rock your world. Huge variety, so that you can try lots of different types. Super fresh. I recommend two rounds of oysters -- at least! First, a "recon" round where you try all kinds of oysters and figure out the ones you really like. Second, a "move in for the kill" round where you gorge on your favourite bivalves. Don't miss the Wild Belons from Maine. Big and briney!
The staff are great. They take the time to tell you about all the different oysters. These guys know their bivalves and their recommendations are spot on. They get the balance right between, on the one hand, giving you time to settle in and relax and, on the other hand, showing up at your table whenever you need another round of drinks.
Once you've finished the oysters, the best part of the meal is done. The fish dishes that follow are above average, but they won't make you strip off your clothes and roll around on the floor. Some obscure fishies live on the menu, and not all of them taste great. Ever heard of tile fish? Me neither. Stick to the kinds of fish you've eaten before. Some fish come with a sauce and some sauces are more successful than others. Hint: if your fish comes with cauliflower sauce, ask for it on the side.
Side dishes are a mixed bag. The fries, baked beans, and cole slaw are kinda boring. I like the green veggies sauteed with garlic and peppers.
The beer and wine lists are solid.
The place is almost always mobbed, but the friendly people at the front desk do a good job of seating you as quickly as possible. If you have to wait, just relax, get a drink, and savour the delicious anticipation of that first oyster sliding down your gullet.
