Owner description: Discover one of Boston’s hidden cultural treasures: The Mapparium! This world-famous, three-story globe is one of the key attractions at The Mary Baker Eddy Library and has been visited by more than 10 million people since it was constructed in 1935. Brilliant colors and lights track global shifts over the past century as a rich orchestration of words, inspiring quotes, music, and LED lights illustrate how ideas have traversed time and geography and changed the world.

“Mapparium at the Christian Science Center, Boston”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 29, 2012

It is amazing to walk through this stained glass globe that was built in 1935. The world was so different then. The kids like the acoustics. You can stand under the north pole and everything you say is in surround sound.

“So worth a trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 29, 2012

Especially if you have kids, but adults will love this, too. Great to do if it is bad weather, or if you want out of the sun. Really cool.

“Christian Science Ctr...Mother Church”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2012

Take a free tour of the mother church next door....The architecture alone is amazing !!!! The Mapparium....well, being a local, its the best five/six dollars you'll spend in the city. You're on a lucite walkway inside a 30 ft stained glass sphere built in 1935. It's incredible !!!!! DO NOT MISS IT !!!!!

“Fascinating experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2012

Walking into a great stained glass globe is interesting enough. Seeing the change in the political divisions since the '40's is amazing and then the special characteristics of the way sound travels in the space is a delight for kids and adults alike.

there's nothing like this anywhere else. It's a MUST SEE in Boston. (Note: if you have a CharlieCard MBTA pass, there is a $1 discount.) Closed on Mondays!
