“The world changed here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

I was at Bunker Hill as a child and going back was just as I remembered. Every visit to the Boston area should include this monument to our founders. Farmer soldiers against the greatest army in the world, isolated on this tiny penninsula from the rest of america. The world changed here.

“Great views of Boston!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

Firstly this is a tough climb! However, if you can manage the steep 194 steps it gives you fantastic views of Boston.

“Impressive monument”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

This is a very impressive structure near one end of the Freedom Trail. I didn't attempt to climb to the top but my husband did and took some great photos for me when he got to the top. But even if you can't manage the climb it is an interesting place to visit.

“Point of View”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

The Bunker Hill Monument is an impressive 220ft granite stone obelisk situated in Monument Square in the classy residential Charlestown area of Boston. It was built and erected between 1827 and 1843 by the Monument Association to commemorate the Battle of Bunker Hill. There are over 290 narrow steep steps to the top where there is an observation deck with small openings on each side covered with plastic glass, unfortunately due to these coverings a clear view is not possible. To the side of the obelisk there is a small columned building within which there are historical details of the battle and those who served. Park Rangers provide interesting short talks and with Q&A's for visitors. Worth a visit if you are in the area but not for a planned journey.

“well worth the effort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

The pre climb historical overview by an enthusiastic ranger made the visit well worthwhile.Make sure you listen to this
The climb of the 294 steps is only for those reasonably fit and although the view is restricted by the size and "quality" of the windows its still a must do.
