“Great little gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2008

The Copley Inn is a great place located in the Back Bay across the street from the Prudential Center. It's location is ideal.

The rooms are clean and adequately furnished and the kitchenette was very useful. There is a grocery store across the street for breakfast items or you could grab a coffee from starbucks!

My husband was very ill on the first night of our stay having had an allergic reaction to seafood. The staff were so helpful and accommodating in clearing up the room and really calmed us down.

I would return here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a good value place to stay.

We did a five night stay and found the inn to be perfectly located and quite a value compared to the rates of neighboring hotels. As other reviewers have said, if you are looking for the amenities of a 4 or 5 star hotel or complimentary breakfasts, go elsewhere. What the Copley offers is value, cleanliness, and location. A two minute walk takes you to the entrance of Prudential Center, or Shaw's Supermarket (full service, including beer, wine and liquor). You can get to probably 75% of the Boston attractions within a 20-30 minute walk. The rooms are clean, the kitchens include a full-size refrigerator, oven and four burner stove, toaster and coffeemaker (no microwave). For an extended day, you can stock up on basics at Shaw's and save money by eating breakfast or other meals in. We had one of the rooms (402) with a bay window which gave us a bit more room than the ones that don't. There was a table and two chairs at the window. Bathrooms are small and basic. Hot water sometimes seemed to be a bit lacking. All in all, we all agreed (there were three couples in three different rooms) we would stay there again. If you are not in shape, request a first floor room (no elevator).

Stayed at The Copley Inn on Garrison St last weekend - a very nice room (queen bed) with private bath and kitchenette. Basically, a very nice room in a nice neighborhood brownstone, but only a short block from the "T." If you're looking for a big lobby, lots of amenities, and a "continental breakfast," then this is NOT the place for you. If you want an architecturally interesting room in a residential property with a great location (20 minute walk to Fenway Park), then definitely check it out.

Great location and price in a nice neighborhood.Lots of tourists out walking so it feels very safe. There's a T station on the same block and lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Fenway is only about a mile away so not a bad walk weather permitting. The room was very nice and good sized. The kitchenette could be useful on a longer stay.Sheila at the front desk was very helpful both on the phone and in person.Luggage can be stored beyond checkout time which comes in handy.
The only drawback is the staff leaves at 5pm on weekends and 7pm on weekdays but that's not a big problem as long as you dont lose your key!
Charlie's Sandwich shop is a great local place nearby to eat breakfast or lunch.

This is my second stay at the Copley Inn and I'll definitely return. It's a great hotel for a good price.

Rooms are very comfortable and clean but only have a queen size bed. The hotel will provide you with an aerobed if you need one. Rooms have a full kitchen, which is great if you don't want to have to eat out all the time and Shaw's supermarket is right across the street. The people at the reception desk are very helpful. However, they leave around 7 pm.

The location could not be better. You are right across from the Prudential Center, with shops and a T-stop. The Museum of Fine Arts is about 7 blocks away. You can get to Newbury Street walking in about 5-7 minutes.

The Copley Inn satisfied all of our requirements: close to attractions and within our budget.

The location is great near tons of shopping and restaurants.

The prices for hotels were rather high the week we were looking at, so I had to look long and hard to find this one as I was determined to get a room that was under $200 per night.

The room was small, but clean. The decor and towel quality left a little to be desired. However, the staff was friendly and the room was quiet.

I would definitely recommend it to travelers on a budget that want to be within walking distance of almost everything in Boston.

The Copley Inn was perfect for what we wanted: good pricing, kitchenette, great location. Alan at the desk was wonderful and he and the other fellow let us borrow guides to Boston to help make our sight-seeing etc plans.

The room is large enough, with a queen-size bed, galley kitchen with flatware, pots & pans, cups, bowls, wine glasses and tumblers, etc, and a small fridge. There was also a closet with hangers (incl skirt hangers), an iron, coffeemaker, and a toaster.

Bathroom was small but adequate and shower pressure better than expected, and plenty of hot water. Everything very clean.

Window air conditioner worked just fine. There was cable tv with a VCR; no DVD player or premium channels.

As for decor, the kitchen was nothing to spend time staring at, but the old fireplace tiles were beautiful and there was a small stained glass window near the bed. Nice plates on the wall, and a vintage Vogue cover poster above the bed. Even a print in the bathroom. Rooms are very sunny on the side we were on (St Botolph's St).

That said, the bed was slightly uncomfortable, and the pillows hard. Investing in some new ones would make a world of difference, and perhaps a pillowtop mattress.

There is no elevator, so not good for those with mobility issues.

Convenient to MBTA Prudential stop, Prudential Building and Center, Copley Square, Back Bay, Museum of Fine Art, Shaw's supermarket, etc. Great location. Easy walk to Fenway Park, about 3/4 mile.

All in all, a great bargain. Not fancy, but well worth the inexpensive rate. I look forward to staying here again!
