We stayed in the guest house on Beacon street for two separate nights - firstly in basement room 2 (B2), then in B1. For the price ($169 for B2 and $189 for B1), we found it a bit lacking in a few areas: extremely dusty in the hall areas, narrow stairs with no offer of help for the luggage (no lift available which we were only told of after booking), terribly badly lit with missing bulbs, extremely stale water cooler and no separate coffee facilities in the rooms. On the plus side, the rooms were good sized - B1 had a little kitchen area too, fairly well ventilated which was a concern for me as I'm asthmatic, and an OK location near-ish to the Green Line (Boston Subway). The staff seem to be mostly local students so their local advice for restaurants etc is in tune with their preferences! The hotel management emailed us for feedback (which we will be providing) so are clearly keen to improve - let's hope with a little TLC, things will get better.
