“Perfect for a Valentine's weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2010

My girlfriend and I booked a room in this hotel for two nights on the Valentine's weekend. Everything was perfect, the room huge, the beds very (very) comfortable, the bathroom had both a bath tub and a shower, and the view was nice, even if we were on a lower level. We paid a very good price (less than 50% the usual price) and were afraid we'd get a room in the basement or something, but no, we got the full thing.

The only problem we got is that the valet parking nearly lost our car, it took them 30 minutes to get it when we left. Except that, everything was as expected, or better.

The Fairmont Battery Wharf was a delightful place to stay while in Boston. We loved the option to take the water taxi from the airport, across the harbor, and right to the dock. The staff provided a smooth checkin and walked us to our room to highlight the amenities. The bedding and mattress was unbeatable, such a cozy night's sleep. The nespresso machine in the room was a bonus. The coffee is excellent! The bathroom felt spa like and the towels and bathrobes were plush. Breakfast in the restaurant was good, but nothing amazing. The hotel was in a great location for sightseeing. We walked to many main sights with the help of complimentary maps and directions from the hotel staff. We hoped they had a hot tub to relax in at the end of the day. Apparently this is in the works for 2011. The only disappointment was that they did not have a room available for us to freshen up in after a day of sightseeing in Boston, prior to boarding a cross country flight. Overall, we loved our stay at the Fairmont and would happily stay here again when we return to Boston!

The good: The rooms are beautiful. The location is perfect. The staff was extremely helpful.
The bad: Our room was located directly across from housekeeping. If you step off the elevator and your room is the first door in the hallway- ask to be moved. We didn't find this out until our first morning when we were woken up as the housekeepers started their day. The "Please Make up Room" button also appears to be broken in this room or we may have switched from "Do Not Disturb" to "Please Make Up Room" too late in the day. We came back to a dirty room. When we called the front desk to ask for towels they were very concerned about our room not being cleaned and offerend to send someone up, but by then we were tired and wanted to relax. They did try to make the situation right.

Parking was $42 a night which in my opinion is high.

We stayed at the Fairmont Battery Wharf in mid-June for 5 nights, and were so pleased with our choice of hotel. The location was great: we loved being able to go for morning runs along the harbor foreshore or wander the lively Italian Northend neighborhood in the evening, eating a gelato.

Our room was a beautiful, king bed harbor suite with an enormous bathroom with a great shower. The furnishings were extremely comfortable and the bed blissful. There was sometimes a bit of noise of a morning from the coastguard working on their boats. We’d joined the Presidents Club before our stay, so we had access to great, free wi-fi.

For us the service at the Fairmont Battery Wharf was the best of the hotels we stayed at in our month long US trip. Annette at the front desk, with graciousness and warmth, gave us great restaurant recommendations, quickly got us good tickets to the Boston Red Sox and arranged for a parcel to be delivered back to Australia. She was outstanding.

We had our best Boston dinner at Sensing (the hotel restaurant) – the service, food and wine were all excellent. We also enjoyed cocktails on the terrace, overlooking the harbor.

An excellent hotel!

Love this hotel!!!! We all agreed that the public washrooms in the hotel were the best we've EVER seen. The hotel is built on the Wharf next to the Boston Base where you can admire the Coast Guard Ships. The restaurant Sensing is phenomenal!!! The servers are all mature, professional and attentive. The food is fantastic at an unbelievable price. This hotel is centrally located to everything. You really don't need to worry about where to "PAHK THE CAH"!!! The Valet service is very efficient and quick. The Front Desk staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable in everything Boston. The coffee machine in the room is an espresso machine. NICE TOUCH!!!! My only complaint with this hotel was the duvet on our beds were heavier than we're used to. Too hot and uncomfortable but I'm sure if we had called down they have lighter summer weight duvets.(I have to mention that we were there in the heat wave as well).
All in all though amazing hotel very modern and clean with a great restaurant.

This Fairmont is refined luxury, the smaller buildings were perfect and the North End is 2 minutes away. You are on the water and the feeling is one of true relaxation and comfort. Every staff person was awesome, the room was huge, and the gold concierges were the best. The intimacy of a smaller rather than a convention big hotel, is stunningly refreshing.
