“Great hotel in a great location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

This hotel is superb. I am ready bad reviews and shocked that people say it is run down and in a bad location. I guess if you want things just out your door, maybe it isn't perfect but we walked in under 10 minutes to the water and the freedom trail. It was close to the subway to get to Cambridge.

And our room was great! It was big and modern, comfy too with turn-down service.
I booked on priceline so maybe I got a great deal for what they offer hence my review vs others.
I do recommend!

Room Tip: They have limited double rooms so make sure you book one guaranteed if you need it

Our family stayed in a Loft Suite at the Langham Hotel Boston and were very impressed with the quality of the room and the hotel's facilities. The room was spacious and very well furnished. The cafe was outstanding and the staff were incredibly helpful. The hotel is well located with easy access to Faneuil Hall and the markets as well as the Freedom Trail and the waterfront. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Boston.

Bottomline it was a decent hotel, but I would not call it 5 star... def a solid 4. It is in the financial district, so everything in the area tends to close down quite early. If you are a tourist I suggest Copley or Back Bay area. We chose this hotel because people said location, location, location... I don't really agree with that.

Dear MeganBNj,

Thank you for your review of your recent stay at The Langham, Boston. I am saddened to read that you found our location to be unsuitable for your needs to seeing Boston. In general our guests find our location within a 5 minute walk to Quincy Market, Fanuil Hall, and the Waterfront and a 10 minute walk to North End, to be ideal for sightseeing as well as offering a wide range of restaurants and stores. Additionally, we are a 25-30 minute walk from Back Bay and Newbury Street. Thank you for your feedback and we hope to welcome you back to The Langham, Boston.

Sincerely,

We were really excited about staying at the Langham during our honeymoon week in Boston. The pictures made it look luxurious and decadent.... The lobby of the hotel is gorgeous and valet and desk staff were very friendly. That's where it ends for us. The rooms are beyond gaudy, and the bathrooms are small and run down. nothing luxurious about the rooms. The walls of the hotel are paper-thin. There was a wedding going on at night and we could hear the music perfectly from our room on the 4th floor. Luckily by the time we returned from supper, it was over. Had we wanted a relaxing evening in, it would not have happened. Then, the party continued late night in the room next to ours. Having just got married ourselves, we understand the excitement and fell asleep to the voices of the party next door. At 2:30 when karaoke began, we had to call the front desk to complain, they were pretty quick to send security. However, the front desk called us a out half an hour later (once we were bordering on sleep) to make sure we were comfortable... Not so much... Finally asleep, the vacuuming of the hallways before 8am was extremely disturbing! The walls are truly paper thin. I would not rate this a 4 star hotel by any means. We stayed at 4 star hotels this week who served welcome cocktails and offered luxurious rooms with beautiful, big bathrooms... Go somewhere else, in the price range, the options are definitely out there!

Dear 041513,

Thank you for your feedback of your recent stay at The Langham, Boston. I am delighted that you loved our lobby and the friendly service of our desk staff; however I am disappointed that your stay with us did not meet your expectations. I would like to apologize for the shortfalls you encountered with our Front Office. I have spoken to our Front of House Manager to re-train our colleagues on proper Langham customer service and will speak to our Director of Housekeeping regarding the vacuuming of the hallways. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback of your stay with us.

Sincerely,

Unprofessional, ill trained staff and highly unorganized staff- really poor service- with exception of doorman/bell captain- long check in line with equally long and unattractive line of luggages parked unattended in the lobby waiting to be delivered to guest rooms... All made for an unpleasant experience at this so called luxury hotel.
We had booked 2 rooms at The Langham and timed ourselves to arrive at the 3 pm check in time. It was after 5 pm when we were actually shown to our rooms. We had a couple of older relatives with us and it was difficult for them to wait for 2 hours in the lobby after a long day of traveling.who were
At least 3 other guests checking in at the same time as us also had issues and problems. There were 4 check-in desks, all staffed but only 2 actually checking in guests. The assistant manager was far from being in charge- she basically kept saying that check-in is at 3 pm but if the room that we paid in advance for is not ready- it is not their fault. The rooms are small and outdated. Bathrooms are even smaller. So small that one can not use the toilet unless the door is closed. At the very best, this should be a 3-star property. I actually have been treated far better by 3-star hotel staff. I would never again step foot in this hotel.

Dear LiveAmused,

Thank you for your feedback of your recent stay at The Langham, Boston. I am disappointed to read that your stay with us did not meet your expectations. I would like to apologize for the delay during the check-in. In general our housekeeping department works hard in preparing the rooms for the next guests to be ready for the check-in/arrival time, which starts at 3pm, but especially with a fully committed hotel the prior night, this turnaround of rooms might result in a delay. Furthermore, I am going to address this shortfall with the Reservation, Sales and Front Office teams, to discuss how we are able to overcome this challenge of accommodating guests in a fully committed hotel situation. Thank you for sharing your comments with us.

There were four of us on this trip and the front desk staff made sure we had a room that we would be comfortable in (Parlor Room). This was exactly what we needed after arriving at 2 AM because of flight delays. Pool was nice, room service was good. Good location. Would definitely stay here again.
