“Good downtown choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2014

I like the location of this hotel and often stay here for business when in Boston.

Boston has no shortage of good hotels, but I like the Lenox for its excellent staff, acceptable (and generally empty) gym, good breakfast, and comfortable rooms.

I stayed at this hotel recently and was really impressed. The staff were friendly and attentive (sitting in the lobby one day a member of staff was walking around offering tea, coffee or champagne!), the decor and furniture were tasteful and in keeping with the architecture of the building. The rooms were spacious and well equipped with comfortable beds. Finally, the location was superb - right on Boylston St and next to the Prudential Center. Food in the hotel was excellent - the Irish bar accessible via the lobby was also great and served very good food.

We arrived at the Lenox for the second time last week for a 5 night stay. This hotel is everything you could ask for. Central with all Boston has to offer on it's doorstep. We were so well looked after from checking in, doormen, bar staff and night time turndown service. Our room was on 4th floor 406 and was stunning. Newly decorated and overlooking the Boston Public Library. We had a large walk in closet with fridge which we stocked from the large Shaws supermarket just around the corner. Theres no tea/coffee facilities in the room but I knew this from before and brought a travel kettle. However they do serve complimentary tea and coffee in reception till 11am, ice tea in the afternoon and hotel chocolate at night. The City bar has a lovely intimate feel, quite dark but with lighting creating a great ambiance. Theres s lovely seating area in the foyer with an open fire. I sat here a few time just watching people go by whilst enjoying tes or a glass of wine. Our room room was a double superior and I'd recommend paying the extra for this. Plenty of space and the beds are super comfy. Theres no full length mirror which I would have liked. Bathroom is small but well equipped with toiletries and a good powerful hairdryer. Turndown service was a bonus each night with fresh water in the fridge and chocolates on the pillows. Staff at the Lenox are so friendly and can't do enough to make you feel at home. Concierge was very helpful in booking bus tickets to Wrentham Outlet. I would highly recommend the Lenox to anyone staying in Boston.

Lenox is simply an excellent hotel. It preserves its original historical charm combined with every amenity one could wish for. It is distinguished in its authentic and unique personality, as opposed to faceless chain hotels. The location is very convenient, there are more than enough restaurants within several minutes' walk, catering to every taste and occasion. The biggest mall in the area, Prudential Shops, are right around the corner. The 50th floor observation deck, the SkyWalk, is an added benefit of the mall.
Boston Museum of Fine Arts is within 20 minutes walk, and so is Isabella Stuart Gardner museum (25 minutes).
The lobby - elegant, yet cozy; the charming fireplace creates a sense of intimacy and home-style comfort. The elevators are efficient, we never had to wait longer than one minute. The rooms are spacious, well-equipped, the size of the closet (two plush robes are supplied) is more than impressive. The bathroom is of a good size too, the toiletries are well selected and of a very good quality; there is even a mouthwash included, something we hardly encountered before in our voyages.
The noise level is good too, not the best but quite adequate. The service is very attentive and friendly.
Coffee and light snacks are offered for free in the morning, but we would rather recommend a satisfying breakfast at the City Table, the prices are quite affordable.
The Wi-Fi is perfect. One does not need a user name or password. On Android devices, one may be prompted to sign in, and select 'Agree' and 'Connect.'
The charging outlets are conveniently located at the desk and on the side of the dressing tables, including a USB outlet.
The only possible negative thing is the bathroom temperature. We stayed three cold nights in March, and for some reason the room temperature doesn't extend to the bathroom.
Highly recommended. Five stars, enough said.

Room Tip: Our 10th floor room (1024) had a good view.

Green Features: the hotel was a pioneer in the environmentally-friendly practices, and we got to give it a credit for keeping up its good standards.

My first trip to Boston and I can't think of anywhere better to stay. A warm welcome from the airport staff carried through to the hotel. Welcoming reception staff, always happy to help, and first impressions of the hotel were excellent. The rooms were furnished to a high standard and spotlessley clean, as were the public areas. There is a restaurant/bar a martini bar (selling a full range of drinks) and an Irish pub. Subscribe to the Irish pub, Solas, about 2 weeks before you visit and recieve a $10 discount on food per table per visit. We ate in the pub the first night and the food was decent. Breakfast was not included for us but the lobby provided tea and coffee in the morning and bananas. If you didn't want to breakfast at the hotel, this was a welcome start to the day. Aftera cold day out (March) we returned to hot chocolate in the lobby, just what we needed.
This hotel is in the Back Bay area off Boylston Sreet. Quite a few bars and restaurants in the area and close to Fenway with some more bars. Copley T (train station) is about 1 minute walk and the Prudential Mall less than 5 minutes. If you get lost, head for the Prudential tower.
A gem of a hotel. You will enjoy your stay.
A tip would be to do the Trolley (hop on/off) tour -pickup from the Marriott foyer, which is behinf the Lenox. Get your bearings and you are away. I recommend the Quincy market in Fenuil Hall and Cheers bar. Some people say don't bother but its a decent pub and has a mock up of the set in the upstairs bar. The Hard rock cafe is behind fenuil hall also. As part of the trolley tour you get entrance to the Boston tea party museum. Well worth a visit for all ages. The actors make it fun, while you learn about the history of the revolution. Hope this helps.

I had to stay here, having heard -- and read -- so much about the Lenox. Besides, I'd run the Boston marathon years ago so I knew about its choice location near the finish line. The central location of the hotel in the Back Bay area, close to the various shopping malls nearby, is still one of the biggest pluses for me.

As expected, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, whenever we came or went. And I liked the heaters above the main entrance door just before you entered, especially since it was snowing when we were there. The junior suite in the corner of the building facing the Prudential Center was nice -- not too large though, but spacious enough for two friends who didnt want to be crowding each other for four days. I also had wanted a hotel where I was able to crack the window open, although the air somehow seeped through the windows so I never had to open them. It did make for some cold nights though as I dont like to sleep with the heater/air conditioning on because of the sound.

The bathroom was big with abundant towels and the like. I also thought the "nightlight" (in the ceiling fixture) was helpful but tended to use one I brought myself. In our bathroom, the toilet lid would not prop up which made it somewhat inconvenient for me and my male buddy to do our "business" as men are won't to do. And it is true that the flush can be a little noisy -- you can sometimes hear the flushes going off in adjacent rooms during the night.

Room service was generally timely, although one day I ordered tea with breakfast but got only a pot of water. As for value, let's say I would not have ordered breakfast there (pretty average fare) but for the fact that it was freezing outside in the mornings. There are so many great restaurants nearby that I didnt eat lunch or dinner in any of the hotel facilities.

Lastly, on departure, the doorman persuaded me to use the hotel's driver because the fare would, he said, be comparable to what I would pay for a taxi. The ride itself was fine, but the fare was likely much higher than a taxi. With tip, it came to $46, or nearly twice what I paid from the airport on the way in.

Would I stay here again, weighing all the above? This jury is still out.

Room Tip: Can't beat the corner junior suites.

This is a lovely boutique hotel in a great location - near shops & lots of good restaurants.

The room had 2 double beds so plenty of space & comfortable - the Kiehls toiletries were an added bonus!

The staff have been very welcoming and helpful - the Lenox has a very relaxed atmosphere with great attention to detail.
