“What A Meal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2011 via mobile

We've eaten at many fine quality restaurants around the country but our dinner at Mooo ranks among the best. I had the Delmonico steak medium rare and it was charred to perfection. If it hadn't been such a nice atmosphere, I probably would have picked up the bone and chewed it bare. Wife had the caramelized scallops ( 5 nice size scallops ) which were excellent. Make sure you share the sides-mashed potatoes, truffled Parmesan fries, corn succotash ( may be the best I've ever had ) and creamed spinach. Plenty for 2. For dessert we split the warm blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream. You will absolutely get more than enough to eat. For two drinks, salad, dinner, desert and coffee for two the bill came to $150.00. We've paid a lot more at big name restaurants in Vegas, Toronto, Chicago and New York but we've never been as pleaseed with the food or the service as we were at Mooo. I guarantee you next time in Boston we'll eat at Mooo!

“We probably will not visit again.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2011

I brought my husband and a couple of friends here for a triple birthday celebration. For a special occasion dinner at an upscale restaurant, the food overall was just average. The atmosphere is comfortable if you have an out of the way table, I suppose. Our waiter was inexperienced and ill at ease, and his lack of rapport with other humans made the experience feel weird. He ruined our time there right from the beginning with his dry, bizarre greeting. We were seated in a high traffic area and waitstaff skimmed by the back of my husband's and my chair the whole time which also detracted from our enjoyment. One of the servers actually bonked the back of my head while they were scooting by. He did apologize while still running, though. Awkward.
They did use their imagination on the specialty cocktails and they were good. All cuts of meat were cooked as ordered and everyone at the table agreed that the truffled parmesan fries were very good, so congrats on the french fries. When the waiter brought my husband's birthday dessert with a lit candle, he announced without a smile, "We don't sing" and then just stood there robotically with no emotion staring at my husband for what seemed forever. Waiters should not inspire nervous, confused giggles from patrons. Everyone at the table literally cringed. Especially considering that we are not stuffy people, three of us at the table have been in the restaurant business at one time, and all four of us are all very easy-going. Once again, Awkward.
I feel bad for giving such a poor review but nothing felt or was special in all categories. It's just not what I expected for this price range, even in Boston.

“Expensive, but worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2011

We were staying at XV Beacon and decided to eat here as it was so easy. It is quite expensive, with steaks between $24 & $100 and side dishes extra, but the food was excellent and service very good.

“Good but could be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2011

We went for a meal at Mooo as it was in the Boston Top list that was recently published. It is a nice venue in a slightly off the beaten tourist track but with great decor and a good bar. Friendly staff and good service made fir a nice evening.
However i thought the meal was overpowered by the bone marrow butter served in a bone. It was a nice idea but far too much garlic meant the whole meal was let down.
If it had been on a side dish or an option then it would have been easy to ignore or remove.
A small change and this would have been a great meal
