“Very nice, except for the Oak Bar service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2009

It seems as though there is a continuing theme of this property. It is very good overall with the majority of the staff achieving expectations.

And then you have the Oak Bar...poor, poor service. The waitstaff seemed as though they really didn't want to be there and they were just going through the motions!

If I were the general manager of this property, I would really look into this continuing theme of poor service in this one area of my property. It is great in every other aspect and it's too bad the one part can ruin it for the rest of the great employees.

stayed 3 nights as a fairmont gold guest.what an experience for an extra $100 a night.absolutely amazing .the whole 4th floor given over to gold with its own check in ,lounge, breakfast room and enough gorgeous hors d'ouvres in the evening there was no need to go for a meal if you didn't want to.the personal attention was wonderful and we felt like film stars.fab location on copley square next to the hancock sky scraper so impossible to get lost anywhere in town.great city super attractions(old ironsides excepted #they ought to go to bristol uk to see ss great britain to see how it should be done).we especially enjoyed the beacon hill area almost devoid of tourists but a lovely part of town.thanks brad you and the team were superb.

We stayed three nights at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. With the exception of a check in person who was quite snooty (perhaps she was having a bad day?) and misinformed about our reservation (she insisted we had been upgraded which was news to us since we had purchased a Deluxe room) the staff were wonderful. The black lab "living" in the lobby is an interesting touch.
As mentioned, we had a "Deluxe" room which was large, and elegantly appointed. Although the room was on the 2nd floor and right off the elevators (I think the nasty girl at the check in counter purposely put us as close to the street and the elevators as possible) there was virtually no noise coming in the room. Concierge and doormen were great, but service at the Oak Room bar in the hotel (which was close to empty at the time we were there) was very slow.
The Back Bay neighbourhood is great - but so were all of the Boston neighbourhoods we visited during our four day stay. What a great city!
We were a short walk from one of the remaining Filene's Basement stores but I was very disappointed. Instead of the amazing one of a kind bargains I expect from there, it has turned into a duplicate of Marshalls.
And Salem? Oh my. Reminded us of that awful Clifton Hill street at Niagara Falls. Bunch of tourist garbage, but without anything spectacular like the Falls to make the trip worthwhile. Ferry ride over to Salem and back was nice though.
Food in Boston is OK - great Italian restaurants in the North end - but mostly seems to be restaurant chains or places catering to the student crowd.

Stayed for five nights over my wife's birthday. Having travelled to Boston before, was really looking forward to staying in one of the city's flagship hotels. Check in was efficient, although a mix up over the number of nights we were staying which led to us being locked out of our room later in our stay. However that aside, the room was adequate. The door did not fit properly as you would expect in an old building, but the bathroom door which was two inches short at te bottom could have done with some attention. These are standards that you would expect in a less quality hotel. Concierge was excellent and I would like to thank Joe for his advice with regard to car rental and where would be good to go - this led to a great day out shopping and visiting Newport RI.

Overall good quality hotel. Would recommend on service, but not on room quality.

We had a wonderful stay with the Fairmont Copley Plaza. We checked in quick and easy, and had a fabulously large room (609). It accommodated our family of 4 very comfortably. We had a tray of cookies and strawberries left on the desk, but it was not for us. I assume it was for the previous guest from the day before, but they immediately came up, removed it and replaced it with our own snack and water. The children got to walk the hotel dog (Catie Copley), which was one of the highlights of the trip.
The hotel was in a wonderful location (back bay) off of the windy water, but among great restaurants, a park and great shopping. We learned to use the T the first day, and the T stop was right by the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel and location for visitors to Boston. It's just so easy to get around the city wherever you are staying, but the Fairmont Copley Plaza adds a high class element to the trip!

From top to bottom, this hotel is the perfect location for conventions. Ideally placed, grand, and more than hospitable for not only transient guests but for the business world as well. I recommend this hotel for either.

I spent a month in Boston with my family. Me on business, them on holiday. We spent the first part of the holiday at the Liberty (very good) but it wasn't until we got to the Fairmont Copley Plaza that it all came together.

Copley Plaza is the best located hotel in Boston - deep in the middle of everything. The ambience is fantastic. Old world charm. Brilliant (stunning) service. The Oak Room is legendary - cocktails like no other, and the best steak I have ever eaten anywhere.

Yes the hotel is almost 100 years old (opened in 1912) but it has such deeply imbedded class that this just shines through. I am a real Fairmont fan anyway but the Copley Plaza just reinforced that.
