“Excellent location in the middle of it all”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

This hotel was great for our 3 days in Boston. Excellent location, fun atmosphere, and breakfast included! Rooms are updated and very nice. Walk out the front and you can go everywhere. We loved it great food everywhere. Cute deli on the corner and a good wine shop close by.

Room was a little small but perfect for just a couple of days for just 2 people. We did not sleep very well due to the noise and therefore, would not go back. There was some noise outside, but it was mostly inside. The flooring and elevator system creaks, LOUDLY, and goes right through the floors and door. Anytime someone walked up the stairs or down the hall at night you heard them-voices too. Stay as far from elevator and stairs as you can. We faced Newbury Street which was nice. Beautiful from outside. Took a lot of effort to get to via car. Parking was easy due to paid spots behind the hotel in the alley. Beautiful from outside. The area was great to shop and walk around in. It was further than they said to Fenway-about 30-45 minute walk. We didn't do the walk back in the dark because though hotel in nice area, it was more dangerous the closer to Fenway. The inside could use some updating as it was dated. Maintenance needed-painting, regrouting tile in shower, etc. Was very clean and nice linens.

Room Tip: Stay away from the elevator especially but also from the stairs if you can. Bring ear plugs.

We stayed at the guest house in the middle of the week for 1 night and honestly that was enough. The front desk staff was very nice and the property is beautiful but the beds were hard as a rock and we made the mistake of staying in a double facing the alley. The trash trucks came to empty the dumpsters starting at 5:30 am. They came 3 times more until 730. The location is nice and the breakfast is plentiful and good. The parking is reasonable and seems safe enough. I think next time I'll stay at the Eliot.

Room Tip: Do not get a room facing the alley. You'll get woken up very early by trash trucks.

This small hotel is centrally located on the lovely Newbury street and it is was perfect for us. The room was spacious and modern, equipped with a fridge and safe. Breakfast was buffet style with a reasonable number of options for a small hotel. The staff were efficient and dealt with a problem in the bathroom quickly, but could have been a bit more personable.

I always struggle to find good value twin rooms in the States. The Newbury Guest House was perfect. Good size room, excellent location with plenty of bars nearby, friendly and helpful staff. Worth the money and would love to stay here again if I'm fortunate enough to revisit Boston.

Stayed here for one night this week and was very happy with the hotel. Love the neighborhood with the shops and restaurants all along the street. Honored my request to have a room facing away from the street;therefore it was quiet. Very good 3 star hotel and breakfast was good. Only complaints are the non-refundable aspect of the price, internet a bit slow (too slow for FaceTime), bed was a bit hard for my taste, and the shower was a little slow to drain.

The staff at the hotel were very helpful and were very nice to allow us to change rooms after we found out the one we had was overlooking the very busy street. The breakfast was fine but after taking a look we opted to go down the street for different options. The location is everything others have described, very central to great restaurants, shops, public transportation.
