“great value in hip happening Newbury Street”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

Location is absolutely perfect for exploring the city on foot. We booked a deluxe room on the 4th floor at rear, great size room, lovely crisp white bedding and decent size bathroom.

Only issue we had during our stay was the droning noise of some kind of generator which was constant between about 6.20am to midnight each day. Think it was on the roof. We did report this to the front desk but it wasn't something they could address during our stay.

Good choice for breakfast, and whilst there is no tea/coffee making facilities in the room you can help yourself in the reception area.

Also appreciated being able to use computer in reception to check in for our flight and print out our check-in confirmation.

Room Tip: Avoid 4th (top floor) for possible noise issues from the roof

I stayed at the Newbury Guest House over the 2012 holidays during a visit with my daughter, so I traveled alone. It was a perfect location and I felt comfortable walking the area alone, both day and evening. The hotel is a lovely brownstone nestled among shops on Newbury Street and within walking distance of Boston Commons and T stops. The room was clean, comfortable, and attractive; the staff courteous and helpful. The rates were great for a hotel in the Boston area, and include a Continental breakfast. From the conversations in the restaurant area, the guests were from many parts of the world. I will definitely return to the Newbury Guest House.

Room Tip: Check Hotwire for package deals including flight and a stay at the Newbury Guest House.

This a chic hotel ,very clean.Nice small lobby with magzines, tea and coffee. The room we had is small and no extras in the bathroom( soap and shampoo only). Our room faced Newbury street but was quiet enough for a good night sleep. The breakfast is less than satifactory. It is all right if you stay one or two nights. The price is reasonable even cheap in downtown Boston. The location is ideal for visiting Boston. everything is in walking distance.

Room Tip: Any room would be O.K

A B&B in the middle of Newbury commerical district provides a quiet retreat from the swarms of tourists and students on the street below. Surrounded by neighborhood shops, restaurants, one can still have the quiet room filled with New England sunshine. Staff is excellent, The Creperie next door provides the morning breakfast. Down the front steps outside is La Voile, an excellent French restaurant. The Charles River, Boston Gardens and Commons are a 10-minute walk. The Museum of Fine Arts and the Gardner Museum are about a 20-minute walk

Stayed in boston for 2 days in june 2012. Picked the newbury guest house because of it central location to all the things we wanted to see. We could walk to everything, and the area is very safe important since i go for a walk every morning. The guest house is clean but has a few more room than your normal b&b and the breakfast was just so so. but i would stay there again

Room Tip: pay for the parking area very busy

I wanted to be near my friend who was using points to stay in a fancy chain hotel. This fit the bill. I drove to Boston and was able to park for $20 at the hotel. My room was tiny but clean and quiet - except for the neighbors (I wore earplugs to sleep). The bed was very hard, the hardest I can recall in any hotel and I think this is why I woke up several times during the night. There was lots of hot water, a mini fridge, and decent lighting. Breakfast was pretty bad, but included, and since Boston was "on lockdown", whatever authority there was for that, going out to find better did not seem like a reliable option. I would stay here again.

We were very anxious but blessed to stay at the Newbury Guest House for our first visit to Boston. Living in South Africa we are fully aware of the problems with violence in society but the generosity and support from the local community was unbelieveably outstanding.
The Guest House was all that we could have imagined in comfort, service and help but on our last day when we had to catch a flight to Baltimore with a state of emergency and total lockdown in the city (no taxis or transport with everyone being advised to stay indoors), all the staff offered to take us to the airport in their private cars which we more than gratefully accepted and appreciated. We will come back to thank Nubar, Julia and Susan who all went more the the extra mile to look after us. Sue & Terry Troughton - South African visitors.
