My boyfriend and I went to The Eagle, full well knowing it was a gay bar, and as we live very close, we were excited to meet some of the local men and women, especially as we both have many gay friends. Our entrance in was fine, we ordered beer, played some pool, and sat for a while. We received a few looks, but nothing too noticeable. There was one guy who had his eye on my boyfriend for much of our time, but we figured with us kissing from time to time and general mannerisms that it would be a non-issue. Wrong. Upon leaving, we had to walk past this man who proceeded to grab my boyfriend's crotch. he quickly swayed away and said a quick "No, sorry" to the gentleman, but Jesus, why should one expect to be accosted just because one is a man in a gay bar? I'm sure everyone could do with at least a "hello, how are you" before the crotch grab to scope out the situation, esp. if you were there with a woman. Other than patron rudeness, the place has a funky dive-ish atmosphere and a lot of darkness and we went no where near the bathroom. general thoughts: go for a nameless faceless sexual advance or more, but if you have self-respect of any sort, steer clear.
