Incredible collections, history, maps, books. Get lost in the place, many nooks to explore. New cafe. Often a great temporary exhibition.
Breakfast at the Map Room cafe is well worth it. Loads to look at including the artisan tiled ceilings. The courtyard is a nice sunny spot if you need some peace & quiet. There's lots of art work to view & the old fashioned reading room is lovely, with students studying at their individual green lights. And it's free!
The Public library is a beautiful historic library. It was the first municiple library in the US I think.
It has a Greco-Roman interior with lovey murals and statues.
You can do tours or wander around youself for free, don't forget to visit the courtyard with the beautiful fountain.
Well worth a visit when in Boston.
A wonderful building and an experience just to go in and wonder around, even if you don't want a book to read.
