We've been to Boston many times and have seen many sights, but we'd never done the Duck Tour so we thought we would give it a try. I feel that it was not worth the very large amount of money for several reasons.
First, the route seems to be very limited, considering how much there is to see in the greater Boston area. For the money we spent, I was expecting relevant history lessons about the area as well as all of the major Boston points of interest. Instead we got stuck in traffic for what seemed like an eternity as a result of the Pumpkin Festival on Boston Common, and a driver who, while witty, could have used the time in traffic to give the tourists a fabulous history lesson but instead just kind of complained about the traffic, construction and some of the architecture of the newer buildings.
The ride in the Charles River was probably the highlight, but still not impressive as we had to go to a distressed area of town just to enter the boat ramp, and then there wasn't much to see of historical interest on the water either.
In comparison, we've taken the Duck Tour in Hyannis and it was MUCH better. I would strongly recommend that you save your money and take the Trolley Tour instead.
