“Fun and Fascinating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

We rode our bikes from start to finish on the Freedom Trail and it was a ton of fun and historically fascinating at the same time. The red paint/brick line is so ez to follow, it adds an additional fun factor to the route.

The guide knew her history and was very entertaining. I would recommend the guided tour of the Liberty Trail highly.

What can you say - follow the red brick trail and visit the birth places of America. We did it on our own, but the tour guides were out and about everywhere.

“The Benchmark for Guided Tours”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

The Freedom Trail Guided Tour is, IMO, the benchmark of all Guided Tours. For the basic tour your are guided by a costumed character of the Colonial Boston era. Each guide has there own real story that they share along the trail. The tour lasts about an hour and a half and weaves through Boston. We went from Boston Common to Quincy Market. We were not sure how we'd like the tour so we had an option to upgrade at Quincy Market to the next segment of the tour which we did.

If you are into history, then you will love the tour. You get the background stories of major historical sites throughout Boston along with some insight into modern Boston. You could do the Freedom Trail on your own, but we like the local perspective and someone who is well learned in the history.

The walk itself is not all that treacherous and even some of the more "challenged" folk were able to keep up. We had a teenager and an 11 year old with us. They stayed engaged and enjoyed the tour as well. The 2nd half, IMO, is better than the 1st half. The 2nd half goes to the North End and Paul Revere's house etc.

We probably won't go through the tour again if we visit Boston, but would visit in more detail some of the sites on the Freedom Trail. It is a must do for a first time visit to Boston.

“Take the guided walking tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

Very interesting. Tours conducted by costumed guides. There is also a freedom trail guide you can get at the visitors center that is very helpful. Buy your tickets at the visitor center. If you want to take the 2nd half of the tour (North end) tickets are purchased at Fanueil Hall kiosk. We learned this the hard way.If you are go boston card holders you will run into some problems cashing in on this tour. Just go to the visitors center first or they will send you on a wild goose chase. Also the National Park service offers free tours of the freedom trail also.
