“Fragrant Visit. A must see for tree lovers.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

Many of the trees were blooming and the aroma of the different areas were wonderful. Colorful azaleas, rhododendrons and more of the floral varieties. We enjoyed our amble around this free and well-maintained space. We only spent two plus hours and only saw a small fraction of the arboretum. The best thing for us was all of the trees, shrubs, bushes were labeled so we could identify each item. We could also see some evidence of planned succession in the park. Great to know that this will be around for more generations to enjoy.

“Beautiful Green Space in the City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

I have lived in the area for more than a decade and can't believe that I have not visited this place until now. Beautifully landscaped by one of the great landscape architects. The highlight for us was the bonsai garden with tress dating back to the 1700s--AMAZING. Parking can be be a bit difficult and the park has only one bathroom.

“great under-appreciated green space”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

The Arboretum is a great green space for the communities of JP, Roslindale and West Roxbury. It also offers classes and tours. The Arboretum is a living collection of woody plants - trees, shrubs, etc. Each woody plant has an accession tag which allows you to learn a little more about the plant - scientific name, common name, where it came from, how it was propagated. The plants at the Arboretum are used for research of all kinds by scholars associated with the Arboretum, with Harvard and with other institutions. The Arboretum offers formal classes (discounted cost with an Arboretum membership), events that are focused on parts of the living collection (Lilac Sunday/Magnificent Maples), and more impromptu opportunities to learn more about what's happening on the grounds (Tree Mobs). Certainly, it's a great space to go running, walking, and picnicking, but it's also a great place to learn something!

“Arnold Arboretum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

I recently had a visit at Faulkner Hospital and afterwards visited the arboretum. Wow what a beautiful place, such a nice way to spend some time after a doctors visit. It is free, has off st. parking was easy to find a spot (weekday) and it is so worth a visit. The park is clean, quiet, plenty of room to escape and quiet spots. There are an abundance of beautiful trees, flowers, gardens and nature just wonderful.

“An Arboretum gifted to Harvard”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

...but NOT IN CAMBRIDGE. This site has an extraordinary collection of flora and fauna brought and nurtured here for study by Harvard horticultural/Botany population. Each speciman is noted by name and source. For the rest of us, however (especially in the Spring), it offers a gorgeous retreat from urban bustle.
