“One of the most peaceful places on earth.”

One of the most peaceful places on earth. Just walking around here as a teenager soothed this savage beast. Just very well done and the views were great.

“Great for Nature Lovin' People”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

The aboretum is massive! The place is filled with a large variety of foreign and native plants, each with a label so you know what kind it is. I like that it's very well kept and not overly crowded like the public gardens. I brought my mom here and she was amazed by the Japanese zen house and the orchards. Seriously, if you love nature or just want to take a beautiful scenic walk, this is the place to go. The only con for me was the location. I live near the airport, so driving here was a bit of a trip, probably cause I don't like driving. Point is, it's very far from the center of Boston and is located near Forest Hills Station. Nice to go every once in a while though.

“Gorgeous Gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

After moving to Boston, I feel so lucky to have found this sanctuary in the city! A great place to take a walk, enjoy some nature, and escape the hustle and bustle of Boston. Bring comfy shoes, a good book, and enjoy!!!!

Warning: If you're new to the area it can be a little tricky to find. You have to go left out of the train station and walk on the sidewalk along the arborway for a bit before you find the entrance. It's worth the effort, be assured!!!

“Great place to get lost in the trees for a few hours”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

The Aboretum is a great place to visit and forget that you are in the city for a few hours. There are themed sections that you can seek out, with plants blooming at different times throughout the growing season. After snowfalls in the winter, you can find trails that cross country skiiers have made for you to enjoy. You can generally find free parking abutting the park. Dog owners in particular seem to love the Arboretum. My only complaint is that you could literally get lost in the park, because the signage is sprinkled too conservatively. But as long as you stay on the paved trails, you'll figure out a way to get out. Enjoy!

The Arboretum is a great place for walking, bike riding, picnicing, birding and just enjoying learning about and / or admiring the trees.
