“Beautiful location, beautiful resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

We stayed just one night on our way from Wake Forest to Nashville. This resort is absolutely beautiful. As we pulled up, my son said that it looked just like Montana. The lobby is like a mountain lodge with piano player, cozy bar, stunning terrace restaurant, tables and seating all looking out over the mountains. The restaurants are delicious and share both lovely views and cool decor. There are cute shops, a Starbucks and snack and treat spots. I did not go to the spa, but peeked inside. It looked wonderful with its own pool, waterfalls and beautiful surroundings. The rooms are spacious, clean, craftsman style and comfortable. While they are not run down, worn or damaged, they do seem dated. You stay at this hotel for what it offers outside of your room. We took the short shuttle to the pool and walked back. It is similar to a country club pool with a bar and snack area. My husband was impressed with the golf course. The resort is very large (think conventions), but still felt welcoming. I would definitely return!!

I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights, to manage a conference, so I had ample opportunity to assess the quality of the service here. This beautiful property looks like an alpine lodge, on a mountain-side with spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The first impression, walking into the great hall, sets the tone: vintage big band and jazz music softly playing, mission style furniture which guests actually use, a view to the patio dining room, and a row of rockers just outside the entrance. My room was in the historic main inn, right above the lobby. I loved the beautiful oak trim, and the mission furniture. The room was rather small by today's standards but I appreciated the setting, and that is standard for older lodgings. The amenities were fine: a decent fridge, coffee maker and robes in the closet. There was a lovely atrium sitting room just outside the rooms on this floor, with historic photos, almost like going through a museum every day. The manned elevator was fun, and I enjoyed talking with the operators. I only ate at one restaurant on the property: Edison's, and it was very good, loved the setting and outdoor dining option, and the reasonable prices. I worked with meeting space in both of the newer wings, and the spaces were all very nice. Although it was a trek from one side to the other, the spa tunnel walkway is worth the trip, just for the experience! Below ground level, with rock walls and fountains, piped in new age music and aromatherapy, I felt refreshed just walking! Most of the on-site dining and drinks were expensive. $13 for a glass of wine. You cannot walk to a variety of other dining options from this location. You will need to get a cab or shuttle to downtown Asheville, which is just a couple of miles away. I cannot speak to standard hotel room rates, as we had a meeting rate. There is a nice variety of room choices, from basic to luxury. I have no complaints at all and we had 570 guests on the property who all raved about the setting!

Room Tip: Main in rooms are quaint and historic, walls are thicker

An outstanding property, reminiscent of early 20th century opulence. The Sunset Terrace restaurant serves excellent food with one of the best mountain views available anywhere. The Vue 1913 restaurant provides the best dining experience, from service to outstanding cuisine. HIGHLY recommend the "Chef's Tasting" experience. The beds and pillows suck.

We had a conference at the Grove Park Inn, and it was a great experience. The staff was friendly, attentive, and personable. The hotel has a unique, warm feel which you will notice upon checking in at the Great Hall. There are two enourmous stone fireplaces at each end of the hall that are trully spectacular. From the old-time manually operated elevators to the excellent food, it was truly a great experience.

A great hotel with wonderful staff and food. Top of the line amenities with breathtaking views. The navigation and the layout of the hotel is quite confusing. The only negative comment I have is that the hotel, especially my room in particular felt a little stuffy. I am sure this would be the case with any hotel close to 100 years old. Nonetheless the hotel was wonderful.

We had a work convention and knew very little about the hotel and it was fantastic! The staff is unmatched and we travel frequently. While my wife was working I was able to enjoy the Donald Ross golf course on the property and while pricey it was worth every penny. Thanks to all for a wonderful getaway!

Our room at the Grove Park Inn overlooked the golf court and the mountains. It was well appointed and had all the amenities we needed. Only complaint was that we could hear the neighbors when they arrived late at night. We stayed during the week at a reduced rate which was lowered even further after I found an even better ideal on Expedia, which the hotel quickly honored. The spa was amazing. The fitness center offers a variety of classes where we felt welcome. The hotel itself is beautiful. The food was wonderful. I definitely recommend this hotel if you can travel at a reduced rate.
