“Christmas Gift to Each Other (12/26-12/29/2013)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2014

Stunning as you drive up to the Inn. Beautiful property. Main lobby area (especially decorated for Christmas) is as good as it gets. Two extremely large fireplaces (you can stand in the fireplaces) on each side of the main lobby. Rocking chairs in front of the fireplaces and logs that are five to six feet long feed the fire.

Christmas Decorations. The best we have see in any location.

Our Room: We were in the Sammons Wing Room 3013. Our view looked toward the Spa. Considering that we paid $460.00 per night,(includes all taxes, fee, resort fee, and parking)
I was not impressed with our room. It could have been a room at the Holiday Inn.

Spa. The Spa will cost you $90.00 to spend the day. It was worth it. Beautiful and relaxing.

We never left the hotel and ate all our dinners at the Edison. The food was excellent.

Blue Ridge Breakfast Buffet. This was included in our room rate. The best Breakfast Buffet we have encountered anywhere in the world. Excellent.

For me, it is one of those been there done that places because it is so expensive. There are so many places in the United States such as this that we like to go to different places. If we are ever in Asheville again, we will pay the $10.00 to park and the $25.00 per person for the breakfast buffet.

Room Tip: Unsure how to choose a good room. When you pay $400.00+ a night you think you will get a good room...

We are very sorry that you feel like we have declined in the last few months. Since we have become an Omni property, we have seen our service scores increase across the board, have invested in new amenities for our rooms and increased many areas of our dining experience. We regret that you did not perceive the improvements but hope you will come back sometime and let us offer you a better experience.

Christmas 2013 had a wonderful four night stay at the beautiful and historic Omni Grove Park Inn
Asheville, NC. All the Christmas decorations and magnificent trees were outstanding. They were
also having the Gingerbread Competition which was also a wondrous sight to see. The two big
fireplaces and rocking chairs were so comforting. The Christmas and Breakfast buffets were
DELICIOUS!! Went to St. Lawrence Basilica for Christmas Mass. Had a trolley ride tour of the
City. A great time was had by all.

Omni has done wonders with the old hotel. Kudos to their decorating staff. It is absoulutely beautiful. Space in the lobby has finally met its ultimate use. We have been going there for 50 years, so we know the place. Our room was great, but we had only one complaint: the room's lighting is poor. We had to use a flashlight to see our clothing and to pack and find things while it was dark or drapes closed. Not good for sr. citizens, and there were 900 there with us. We will go again, for sure. Food service was excellent when they served 900 and the food was hot! Thanks

Overall an excellent stay. Like the improvements you have made in the Great Hall. Prefer a bit more central lighting in room. Edison Restaurant still with start-up issues. Program staff and concierge excellent. Have come for 5 of last 6 years, already registered for next yea!

I stayed here twice. I love the Grove Park Inn, mostly because of its history, its unique charm, its privacy, and simply because it is really perfect in its own way. The hotel is gorgeous, especially because I was there on one occasion during the Christmas holiday. They had a Gingerbread Competition and beautifully decorated Christmas trees. It felt cozy. Not only is it beautiful, but it has a great history. Many celebrities and famous people have stayed there. The rooms were great. Comfortable beds and clean. The staff was professional and friendly. The spa...oh my the spa...SO beautiful and relaxing. The indoor fresh water pool and the jacuzzis inside and outside, the steam room and the sauna...everything about it was amazing! This charming hotel, tucked in quaint Asheville, is fantastic in every way.
