When my husband and I initially walked it, we were genuinely surprised at how grand the establishment was.. But that's where the enjoyment stopped. We were checked in by Trent who was everything but pleasant. He never smiled, had a stale tone, and somewhat talked AT you versus to you. The room was what we expected although the wifi signal was very weak. Maybe if we got a little better hospitality next time we would consider staying here again.

The hotel was clean and welcoming. The front desk did an excellent job. The internet was extremely slow. The breakfast bar was above average. The lobby area was very appealing. The beds are extremely comfortable.

The room was clean and roomy and was refreshed nicely every day. We ended up staying here at the last minute after prior reservation with another hotel fell through. The staff, especially Stacy at the front desk, went above and beyond to make sure our needs were taken care of. Thank you!

I usually don't have much needs and Holiday Inn Express & Suites hotels usually meet them. I was not surprise with this hotel as well. Holidays are pretty consistent with what they offer. Sometimes there is an indoor or outdoor on no pool but this time there were 2 pools in and out connected together so you could swim in and out. Awesome. Again the internet was very slow but since I didn't really need it I was pretty happy in my room. The only disappointment come with breakfast: it was not included in the price of the hotel.
Also air-condition was very very loud and it was not turning off, constantly working but the manager told us they they are in the process of replacing all of them in entire hotel.

Room tip: Breakfast cost only $10 at the reception (if you buy it at the bistro it will cost you $15 - again...I don't get it).

This happened early Dec, 2014---we tried to settle the matter as late as April, 2015. To no avail. My son, his fiance , myself, called to make a reservation for them. They asked if he had a priority #--he doesn't, but I do. They said he should use it. Did. And put the tab (supposedly a "special") on a credit card. They arrived, were immediately asked for my son's debit card, swiped it- for $100--"for insurance". When Ben asked for their Biltmore tickets, as advertised? They said they didn't do it for 3rd party reservations. The 2 of them went to use the hot tub---so chlorinated 15 mins was more than they could stand. Sat morning they went out to Biltmore--- couldn't afford the tickets---Ben's account was $100 short. When they checked out--- they were not given a receipt. We're STILL trying to get the $100 back--which they told him would re-appear on his account. NC State Employee's Credit Union said, get us your receipt--we'll handle this--- Holiday Inn did not respond to phone calls, emails, or a post on Travelocity. We sent a notice to Biltmore Mgmt-- they are so big---one person, $100---that much gets spilled on the floor. No reply. Two months-- of dead silencem left on hold, 4 hr drive each way, took their own towels/ bath supplies, had 2 breakfasts---left the room as clean as when they arrived---treated as tho they were nobody. This occurrence is being posted on FB, newsletters we receive, send., family who travel a great deal, being, in legal /medical professions/educational positions.. 4th of July wk end, went to Wilmington, often stayed at H-I there when the kids were younger---again, used the Priority Card to make reservation 2 wks in advance--clld to confirm, then---arrived--had 3 price quotes, given a difficult time at the desk---went to Comfort Inn,. took us immediately-- great service, price, room. When we were repeating all this --again--to a group, 3 said--"We never use Holiday Inn anymore-"-- repeated similar happenings.

Room tip: BE careful---

Hello Momofsixx,

We would like to start by assuring you that we take matters of guest dissatisfaction very seriously, and in no way do we attempt to scam our valued guests with our policies. We regret to hear that you have faced frustration and inconveniences since your stay, and we would like to clarify the issues that you have mentioned in the hopes that it will help make sense of the situation.

Regarding the $100 charge to your son's card "for insurance"; we (like most hotels) place an authorization hold on a debit or credit card at check-in. This authorization is for $25 per day. Our front desk staff is careful to explain what this authorization is during the check-in process to ensure that our guests do not receive any unpleasant surprises while checking their bank accounts during their stay with us. And this incidentals hold is only an authorization; it is not a charge. (The system verifies that the amount of money is in the account, but does not actually remove the money from the account.) This authorization is automatically released by us upon check-out, at which point it is up to the policies of a guest's financial institution to determine when the money will be available to use again.

Concerning the Biltmore tickets - there appears to have been some confusion from our front desk agent when Ben asked for his tickets. We don't offer Biltmore tickets with any reservations, not just third parties. What we advertise is that guests can purchase Biltmore tickets through us, and receive a better deal than buying them directly from the estate. (The passes purchased are good for two days instead of one.)

We apologize again for the confusion and frustration that this incident seems to have caused, and that this, combined with the challenges you and your family faced regarding the prices of the Holiday Inn in Wilmington, has deterred you from choosing to stay with Holiday Inn in the future. We encourage you to contact the hotel (specifically our GEC) so we may gather a little more information that will enable us to search for your specific reservation history and provide you with the receipt that you need to resolve this issue.
