“Very nice even with a few flaws”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

My partner and I stayed here one night after visiting the Biltmore. The hotel is about ten minutes from the Biltmore, located right off the interstate for easy access. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. For being a priority club member we received a token for a few dollars off the Big Owl Restaurant located in their hotel and two cards for a free breakfast buffet which I talk about later in the review. The room we stayed in was very nice and we had no issues with the wireless internet. We ate dinner at the Big Owl and it was very good, big portions, and reasonably priced. A few negative comments… I found two bugs in the room, the first bug was on the wall outside of the bathroom which I took a tissue to and killed it. The next morning I saw that same type of bug on the bathroom floor. This time I couldn’t kill it because I was too slow being that I just woke up. The fan in our bathroom ran constantly, the door to the bathroom had to be closed to help quiet the noise, since we only stayed one night it wasn’t worth complaining and moving all out stuff to another room. I heard an occasional train go by, it wasn’t that bad but if you are a light sleeper it may be an annoyance. We ate at the breakfast buffet at the Big Owl in the morning but noticed that people were just getting up and leaving. The breakfast was complimentary and I’m not sure why they gave us those free breakfast buffet cards other than a make you feel important for a little bit at check in. I noticed the cards stated “free breakfast buffet at the Lodge Restaurant.” I am not sure if this was the old restaurant name or someplace outside the hotel. If the cards were for the restaurant inside the hotel; shame on the hotel for acting like priority club members are getting something special. If “The Lodge” is someplace else outside the hotel; shame on the hotel for not telling us where that was. Other than the few flaws I pointed out, the hotel is very nice for the value.

Traveled to Asheville, NC on vacation with friends. In all honesty the Hotel was chosen due to employee room rate availability. We were very happy with the outcome. Hotel was clean, well lit and rooms comfortable. Greeted on a chilly day with a fire in the lobby fireplace and Mark at check-in who was helpful. Cindy at the front desk and the staff overall were always quick with a friendly smile and handled the crowded lobby and restaurant with courtesy and professionalism. A nice fresh hot breakfast buffet is complementary (2 types of scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, biscuits, waffles, etc.), This is a pet friendly hotel and we saw all types of breeds and sizes during the 5 nights of our stay. Only a certain number of rooms are set aside for Pet owners and pet noise was not an issue. While it is convenient to I-40 it is about 8-10 minutes from the downtown Asheville area. If you are on a budget there are several nice low cost eateries along with the standard fast food joints and a grocer nearby. The room does not have a safe, microwave or fridge. Would stay here again.

We were not able to stay at the Biltmore Inn so we opted for a Holiday Inn which we thought was nearby. Turned out, it is about 5 minutes away but what a fun surprise we got upon arrival. This hotel is in the woods just off the highway but it is decorated like a charming woodland cottage. The staff couldn't be nicer and more helpful. They have a live singer out on the porch during dinner and the food at the Big Owls bar is really good. Holiday Inn Priority guests get discounts in the restaurant. Fantastic breakfast as well. I would stay here again when coming to Asheville simply because its so charming and a very reasonable price.

This area is absolutely breathtaking. The sites are incredible with lots of fun things to do, especially downtown. This hotel was the icing on the cake of our vacation. The entire staff, including the "Big Owl's Bar" were as nice, helpful, courteous and hospitable as they could be. The room was spacious with a great mattress and oh so comfortable pillows. We had a few meals at the Big Owl Bar and each one was better than the next - well worth their prices. Would highly recommend this location and hotel for a wonderful vacation.

This property is a tad east of ashville on I 40, but very convenient for getting into asheville, biltmore, VA hospital etc. It is very welcoming and upgraded within the last few years. The rooms are quite sufficient. No fridge or microwave. The lobby is nice with fireplace and games for family. Surprisingly there is a comp breakfast included... In a restaurant setting with hot and cold choices. The price is very good compared to other properties and well worth the extra 6 miles from downtown.

This was our third visit to this hotel, and we wil return whenever we can. It's on the edge of Asheville and an easy drive to Biltmore, or into downtown. Although an older property, it has been beautifully updated and maintained. Situated on a hillside, the view from our room each time has been of the mountains; sunsets and sunrises are gorgeous. The overall decor is rustic luxury. The lobby is beautifully arranged with attractive, comfortable furniture, books, a fire burning in the fireplace, and interesting craft items on display. Unlike most hotels, it's actually a place you might enjoy hanging out for a while. The landscaping is beautiful and appears to be meticulously cared for and planned. The location of the hotel felt very safe. The front desk staff couldn't have been more welcoming, and both the evening and day staff gave us excellent tips and directions on things to see and do in the area. A wonderful surprise this visit was a free breakfast in their very nice restaurant. We didn't expect more than the usual bagels and juice, and were delighted to find a full, hot buffet including a delicious western omelette, plain scrambled eggs, sausage, freshly baked biscuits, waffles, pastries, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, banana bread, etc, etc. There was a bookshelf above each booth with books on local hiking, waterfalls, Great Smokey Mountains park, and similar interests which were fun to look at and very informative. The restaurant was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean and the waitstaff were friendly and efficient. Our room was also very clean and the bed was excellent quality. A microwave and refrigerator in our room made it easy to prepare quick snacks. Pets are welcomed at this hotel, but allowed only on two lower floors, which is a thoughtful consideration for those of us who don't travel with a pet and would rather not be around them in a hotel. I can't say enough good things about this hotel and we look forward to our next stay.
