“Nice People smelly room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

The staff at this place were very friendly and helpful. I found breakfast so so but on line with most complimentary breakfast. Our room had a must smell and wasn't the cleanest place I ever stayed. Rooms definately in need of updates.

Room Tip: Check out room before handing over your credit card.

Trip Advisor reviews are quite good, however, I had some concerns.
The hotel is over 30 years old. The owner has maintained the property and employs an excellent staff. It reminds me of a European hotel with larger rooms!
The breakfast is served on REAL PLATES, WITH REAL CUPS AND CUTLERY. The food is tasty...good coffee.

Good and convenient location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice swimming pool. Our room was very clean. The furniture was in very good condition. The breakfast choices were pretty good. We enjoyed the rustic decor of the common areas.

I have traveled to Asheville for years and never guessed this holiday inn up on the hill in east asheville could be so wonderful. I travel about 60% of the time for a small non-profit and costs are critical. Very reasonable and this hotel beats any I have stayed in at higher costs. A mountain retreat for anyone who just wants to lull around the pool or fireplace in the lobby. Great breakfast buffet, a good restaurant and bar frequented by the community. I cannot say enough good. For business travelers even a well stocked computer room with updated software and printer that works.

We stayed here on our recent trip to Asheville and used some of my husband's points for a reduced stay. The two folks in the lobby were so friendly when we checked in. The lobby is very spacious and reminded me of a lodge or cabin in the woods....think leather furniture, wooden chairs, fireplace. Our room was very spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. We went to the bar one evening and had a coupld of drinks in their outside area. They offer free breakfast from 7 - 10. My advice......get there early if you intend to eat in the restaurant. It is way too small for the amount of people trying to eat from 9 - 10. We went at 7 the morning of our second day and had no issues. Hotel is very close to I40 and only minutes to downtown.

Good location in East Asheville. The staff were very nice and helpful. Only complaint is the restaurant/lounge is closed from 11am to 4pm and there is nothing else to grab an bite or have a drink. Everything else was fine and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
