“Don't stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2006

Because of this place we cut our vacation short and did not go to the Biltmore Estate. Looked more like a $20 a night motel instead of the $69 a night we spent. I would not consider this a hotel but a budget motel without the budget. The steps going up to our room were dirty and rusted. Some of the people staying there looked straight out of the movie Deliverance. The air conditioner in our room made a terrible noise on LOW so had to have it on HIGH all night which froze us. The small refrigerator in the room made a dripping noise all night. The room looked clean but the beds were not so great. There was a couple of bugs in the bathroom. The high speed internet did not work although the front desk person said otherwise. Also the lady at the front desk was not too friendly. Also the doctors scale in the exercise room did not work. The wireless connection in the lobby did work. Slept poorly due to all the problems. Thank God we were on our way home from a week on the ocean.

My wife and I visited Asheville primarily to see the Biltmore. The Quality Inn is right off I-40 exit 55, just a short drive from anything around. We got a good value (79/62 weekend/day) and would stay there again. Parking is a little tight once everyone is in for the evening, but we didn't have trouble finding a spot. They sell adult Biltmore tickets for $40, which is $2 more than at the gate on weekdays. There is a small pool, which we did not use, but it looked clean and inviting.

We had a room with a King bed on the second floor. It was rather small; I think rooms with two doubles are larger. The bathroom was spacious, though, with a nice sink area and shower. Room had a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, iron + board, hair dryer, TV, and free Internet access (wired ethernet). There is free wifi in the lobby, but the signal does not reach to the rooms. The AC unit worked fine, but was a bit on the noisy side. Entrances are external, but it feels like a safe area. The door has a deadbolt, but no chain. It also did not close automatically--make sure it closes when you leave! The only curtain was thick and dark; a sheer would be nice for daytime to let light in but preserve some privacy. Could not hear interstate from inside room.

The free breakfast is quite good: cereal, yogurt, fruit, muffins, waffles (make-it-yourself griddle), eggs (microwaved into weird discs), sausage, biscuits and gravy, coffee, and orange juice. There are about 6-7 tables in the eating area, which was not enough due to the popularity of the breakfast. I don't know what else they could really do except open a restaurant to abate the space problem.

Staff was helpful and professional. The loaned us an ethernet cable for the laptop and fixed our tub drain so we wouldn't have to stand in water. Staff patiently helped a woman in front me at the desk who thought she was at a travel agency.

Bottom line: a good value, good service, clean hotel, 4.25 stars, would stay there again.

This is a good place to stay for a short trip. Room was small but extreamly clean. Like the idea of a fridge, microwave and coffe pot in the room.
Breakfast got boring for me after a day and on a weekend it is very difficult finding a place to sit down. But at a cost of 55 dollars per day (continental special) this was a very good value.

I took may parents for a short trip and stayed at this Hotel and found it very adequate. Access to the hotel was easy from the interstate. The staff was courteous and helpful with directions. The room was a non smoking room and was very clean and clean smelling. The bathroom was larger than most. The breakfast was more than we expected and was well kept up. We had ample parking space and were not disturbed by other travelers. Would definately stay here again.

We booked our room at this hotel due to the reviews of the Triple A and other people staying here.

The contintental breakfast was o.k. if you were in a hurry to get somewhere but there is not alot of tables to sit down as a matter of fact there are only 8 tables. Forget the contintental breakfast and go down Tunnel Road and eat at The Cornerstone Restaurant for breakfast it is fantastic!! Not expensive at all. The parking is on steep inclines and if you arrive after 8 p.m. you will have trouble finding a place to park.

The room was clean but small and the beds are comfortable. But a word of caution do not put your "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, because I did this on our first night there and the next day our room was never cleaned and I took the sign off approximately at 9 a.m. I complained to the front desk staff and nobody did a thing about it. I also mentioned to the front desk that our bathtub drain was very, very slow and if maintenance could fix it but unfortunately nobody did. I wish we did not book for seven nights.
