Some places and people are put into our lives to make it so much nicer! That's what I can say about the Ramada Inn at Asheville NC. From the instant my mom and I arrived, we were greeted with a warm and caring individual, Terry Heyward. We didn't arrive until 10pm and I was nervous that it was going to be a hard check-in (from using online reservations) but upon entering the hotel, I was greeted with a smile.
The front desk clerk, Terry, indicated that he was worried about us as we had not arrived yet. He was going to try to call us if we had not arrived by 10:30pm but because I booked through Travelocity, he didn't have my number. A very delightful fella he was!
When mom and I checked into the room, I told her that she had to go down and meet Terry as I have NEVER had someone treat me so nice...especially in the service industry!
Unfortunately, she didn't get to meet Terry before we left but I can tell you that he is very professional, so helpful, and honestly cares about his customers. While using the computer the next evening, I found that he was just as helpful for others that came into the hotel or those that he spoke with on the phone. One person called, and from what i could tell, were upset that their reservations were going to be cancelled because of the time of night. Terry immediately put them at ease, gave them ETA's from where they were traveling, and let them know their rooms would be waiting for them. Kudos to Terry!
My mom and I were very pleased with the room. Considering I only paid, on average, $39 a night (through the secret hotel deal on Travelocity) the room was worth way more! Clean and comfortable linens and mattresses! A clean bathroom! A nice TV! We just kept saying "This hotel is so nice!!".
And when you read that they offer a continental breakfast, don't think it's just a muffin and a container of yogurt - it has a hot and cold bar. Which means you can make your own waffles!!! Who doesn't like that LOL! And you get REAL country gravy for your biscuits, along with eggs and sausage. Of course, you can get a muffin or bowl of cereal, if that's your liking! The hotel has a very nice eating area with a large screen TV that you can actually hear what is being said...from the back of the room!
The hotel is in an excellent location...literally 5-6 miles from Biltmore and you can see downtown Asheville from the parking area. There are food and shopping stores across the parking lot, with a wonderful place called J & S Cafeteria. We highly recommend that place also...there is a long line but it goes quick and the service and food are great!
What I liked best about the hotel was the service I received, from the minute I walked in to when we left. I also appreciate a clean hotel that was comfortable. What I might would like to see though is an indoor pool.
I look forward to going back to Asheville soon and will be staying at the Ramada Inn.
