“Nice Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

Spent a few relaxing days in hippie heaven (Asheville), and highly recommend the Beaufort House Inn. Breakfasts were first- class, and the Savannah Cottage was as advertised. The hosts were welcoming and made us feel at home.

We recently travelled to Asheville, and wanted to stay at a B&B. After much research, we decided to stay at the Beaufort House Inn. What a delightful surprise! The house is charming; there was a warmth about the place that seemed to bring out the best in its guests. It was so much fun to meet people from all areas of the country…to talk and laugh together. And did I mention the breakfasts? Okay, so it always seemed like we were having dessert for the first course, but that worked for me. The lemon soufflé topped with blueberries, the apple crisp, the pineapple and pecan sticky bun…all hot right out of the oven, and those were just for starters. Ending each day was just as good; sleeping on the most incredible linens, with the most comfortable pillows. Christina and Jim were very warm and helpful, setting the tone for the B&B, and Erica was just plain terrific. This was definitely our favorite B&B!

We had an amazing time at the Beaufort House Inn. It is a lovely house and the accommodations were fantastic. Jim and Chris were great. It was our first time in Asheville and they made sure it was fantastic. They suggested wonderful things to do in the area and the breakfasts were out of this world!!! When we go back to Asheville, we will definitely stay there again.

My new husband and I stayed at the Beaufort House Inn our first night in Asheville, after road-tripping/camping the first half of the week. It was honestly one of the most memorable parts of our whole trip, we couldn't think of a more welcoming and comfortable way to kick off the "romantic" part of our adventurous honeymoon! Although tired, weary and somewhat stressed (our '81 VW Camper had been misbehaving since VA), all of that seemed to melt away as soon as we stepped through the doors. Immediately, we were greeted by a wonderful woman at the desk as well as Jim, one of the owners/innkeepers. Miraculously it was also the beginning of "wine hour," so we chatted with the two of them and took a brief tour of the (beautiful!) house, wine in hand. The assistant innkeeper asked if we had already decided where to eat dinner (we had), and then went on to take down our info so she may make the reservation for us! Talk about being spoiled! She also gave us a detailed map of Asheville and drew in the walkable and drivable routes, pointing out important landmarks to find our way. They also let us store some of the food from our camper fridge in their main fridge in the basement for the rest of our stay which we very much appreciated.

We stayed one night in the Willow Cottage, one of 3 rooms set behind the main house, each with a front porch area and private back deck. It was pretty spot-on with the description and photos on the website, perhaps even more impressive (that tub!). We could see how the lack of shower could be inconvenient to some staying here for more than a night or two, but we made do with the handheld one just fine. The entire room was tastefully and serenely decorated and had more of a modern "spa" feel rather than Victorian, but we were totally OK with that; what this room may have lacked in antiquity the rest of the main house made up for! The room was spotless, the waffle robes were comfy and the sheets were some of the softest I ever felt. It was quiet, we never heard a peep from other guests or cars. Our short walk through the yard to the main house offered views of the beautiful garden, a bench swing and sitting area - a view which we couldn't get enough of.

The walk to dinner (at plant) took less than 5 minutes, and to downtown it was about 15 minutes and never felt unsafe as it was mostly through quaint residential areas. Breakfast was perfect - I am vegan and my husband is not, but we both left feeling satisfied (a rarity for us!). I had mentioned that I was vegan the night before and they accommodated this seamlessly. While everyone else enjoyed a pastry, I had a big huge bowl of fresh fruit. For the main course, while my husband enjoyed scrambled eggs in a phyllo bowl and hashbrowns, I was reveling in my tofu scramble filled with roasted veggies. After breakfast, Chris (Jim's wife/co-innkeeper) made time to come out from the kitchen and greet each guest. She then made a brief announcement, thanking everyone for being there and sharing important celebrations going on at the time - our being newlyweds (blush), a 40th anniversary here, a birthday there, etc. She was absolutely brimming with positivity and warmth and you couldn't help but want to hug her!

We were sad to leave the Beaufort House and are already getting excited for our next weekend getaway in Asheville! Do yourself a huge favor and stay at this place, and grab it for as many nights as you can afford :) Thank you Jim & Christina!

We had a wonderful time at the Beaufort House Inn. The innkeepers, Chris and Jim, were 2 of the loveliest people that I have ever met. THey were warm gracious, and gave us lots of great ideas about what to do in Asheville. The breakfasts were hearty and delicious every morning.
We stayed in the cottages. I think next time I would like to stay in the house which is very beautiful. We have stayed at a lot of B&B's and this by far is the best!! We will be back soon!!

What a truly fabulous place. We had a wonderful stay at Beauford House and only wish to could have stayed longer. From the moment we stepped inside we were treated with the utmost kindness. The room was beautiful and the food delicious.

Thanks to Erica for all her help and advice.

We will definitely recommend Beaufort House to everyone and hope to return one day.

We were on a two week tour and it was definitely the best place we stayed.

We would have no hesitation in recomminding this place to all our friends.

5 stars for everything!!

This was the first time my wife and I tried the B&B experience. it will be very hard to go back to a hotel anytime soon and we eagerly await the next chance we can return to the Beaufort House. The entire team was there to serve our every question and need while making us the most relaxed we had been in years. Our experience in the Asheville area was enhanced by the great guidance we received and of course, insider knowledge of the local "best things to do". The breakfast is 5 star, the bed and linens out of this world, and hosts that made us feel as though we had known them our entire lives. Don't miss out on this truly one of a kind experience.
