This was our first Bed and Breakfast experience. My wife and I spend our first week without kids at Cumberland Falls B&B and the experience was incrediable. The staff was super and fun to be around. The owners had placed bowels of chocolates around the house and there was fresh cake and cookies every afternoon. Recomendations and directions to various events and resturants were freely given and accurate. The Inn was centrally located to most of the places we wanted to see. The rooms were large, very comfortable and well decorated. Everything you see on their website and brochure is accurate and provided. The ownders, Gary and Patti have set a hight mark for any B&B we might go to in the future. It was a wonderful experience and We highly recommend it to everyone. The landscaping was excellent and the front fountian provided sounds of rest and relaxation on the front porch. I forgot to mention Choc. cover strawberries for my wife's birthday and the great conversations during a wonderful breakfast. We recommend the Cumberland Falls B&B as a great place to stay.

We stayed in the Lion's Den, which was a beautiful room. The staff and owners were great and so helpful. We had a fantastic stay and truly appreciated both the welcome-family feel and the luxurious room (not to mention the great location). The morning meal was like something out of Room with a View. You get to meet interesting and nice people from all over the country. I would definitely recommend this b and b!

My boyfriend and I were looking for a very welcoming and relaxing place to stay as a celebration on college graduation and farewell to North Carolina before we moved away. Cumberland Falls exceeded my expectation and provided the perfect getaway.

The hospitality and true devotion to the guests was evident before we even arrived, as Gary called us to make sure we were ok as a huge storm had just come through the area. He then very warmly greeted us once we got there, and gave us a brief tour of the absolutely gorgeous and charming house. Throughout our stay it was very obvious that Gary really enjoyed running the bed and breakfast and meeting all of his guests. The attention to detail was amazing, with things like robes in the bathrooms, personal reading lights, candy set out all over the house, many many guides and brochures to restaurants and attractions in your bedroom, cable TV, wireless internet...I could go on and on! And of course one of the most important signs of a well-run inn, everything was extremely clean.

We stayed in the Lion's Den, and it was definitely my favorite room in the house (I peaked at the other rooms before other guests arrived). All of the rooms were beautiful, but the Lion's Den has its own appeal with gorgeous bay windows that look out on enormous trees, a very cozy and relaxing feel, high quality bed linens, and the fun of counting the lions in the room. For anyone hesitating to stay in this room because it doesn't have the whirlpool tub, just forget about that and book this room! I still enjoyed a relaxing bath in the deep antique tub, probably more so than a modern whirlpool tub because of the unique atmosphere created by keeping the original tub.

The rest of the house is extremely charming and well-kept. Gary and Patti have done an excellent job in keeping the decor and furniture up-to-date and in great shape but very complementary to the old age and feel of the original architecture. The garden was very peaceful and lovely, and I had a lot of fun watching the koi in the ponds out back. There is one enormous koi that seemed especially eager to greet you (and beg for food of course!).

And of course I have to mention the food! The breakfast was DELICIOUS! It consisted of a fresh out of the oven bread item, followed by a scrumptious baked fruit, and ended with the main dish. We had spinach frittatas and potato wedges one morning, and pancakes with strawberries and sweet and spicy bacon the other. I was so sad I couldn't stay longer and try even more dishes. We also grabbed more than our fair share of cookies and cupcakes that were set out in the lobby. I wish I could get recipes for those ginger cookies!

All in all, we had an absolutely wonderful time. It was the perfect place to stay while visiting Asheville, and I really felt pampered afterwards. Gary made sure our depature was just as smooth as our arrival, and sent us off with a picture of us by the waterfall and a homemade sour cream cake. Yum! Thanks again Gary and Patti for making our vacation absolutely perfect!

Amazing, Absolutely Amazing. My husband and I decided to celebrate our 4 yr anniversary in Asheville, NC from May 21-23. So of course I researched trip advisor's for possible B&B's. And Cumberland Falls Inn was a wonderful choice. The owners and staff were very eager to assist with planning needs before and during our stay. They did everything from printing off movie schedules and directions to directing us to great restaurants and a great day spa.

On the day of check in we were running late so I called the Inn and was reassured that it wasn't a problem. As soon as we arrived we were taken directly up to our room and shown the beautiful property. The property is located in the historic part of town but be assured that there is plenty of parking.

The ROOM: We stayed in the Sunshine Suite which was amazing. It was beautiful and had coffee pot and microwave. However it had a VCR instead of DVD player which was a bit disappointing. One thing to remember with this room is that the huge romantic garden spa tub took a long time to fill up. So start it a bit early. It was also nice waking up to the sound of birds each morning.

The FOOD: I was so excited to eat breakfast each morning. It was fabulous. It is a 3 course breakfast which is to die for. There was also plenty of juice and coffee. In the afternoon you could find homemade treats with endless coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

The EXPERIENCE: As stated earlier the staff are wonderful and cater to your every need. They made us feel as though we were the only guest in the house and that we were very special. (There are also a few extras that I will leave out just so it will be a pleasant surprise.) The property is beautiful and well kept and sets a wonderful atmosphere for any traveler. For us it was very relaxing. We spent every late evening with a cup of hot chocolate on the swing in the gardens followed by a soak in the spa tub for 2.

All in all it was a great stay and I would be confident in recommending it to any of my family or friends.

We vacationed for a weekend in Asheville with two of our friends who have never stayed at a B&B. We were all very impressed.
Negatives:
When we first arrived, we waited for about 30 minutes before being shown to our room. Not a terrible issue, but we were exhausted from our long day at the Biltmore. Unfortunately we arrived when everyone else did...
The rooms were very nice, but were on the pricey-side.

Positives:
The owners are very personable. The concierge, Heather, really knows all about Asheville. She is extremely helpful and nice. We really liked her a lot.
The beds were very very comfortable. We wanted to relax, and the B&B was absolutely perfect. We slept hard :)
The breakfast was out of this world...I have asked for several recipes!

Neutral:
I had to add this section because the location of the B&B has positives and negatives. You cannot safely walk to town. I am adventurous, but I would not walk downtown from the neighborhood. However, many of the houses in the immediate area are very well-kept (some other B&B's are here). But driving there, we got a bit nervous about the quality of the home--but not after we turned into the correct neighborhood.

All in all, a fantastic weekend made better by this B&B!

We are delighted that this couple and the friends they were traveling with enjoyed our inn so much and sincerely thank them for this extremely positive write up. It is always heartening for bed and breakfast owners to hear that the first introduction a guest has to a bed and breakfast experience is a positive one.
Our industry works diligently to be more than a place to spend the night and to offer each guest an experience rather than just a nights lodging.

On occasion, it does occur that couples arrive for check in all together. Generally, this can be a wonderful time. Guests are shown to their room while also having an opportunity to meet and greet others they will be sharing the house with. It is often a time of humor, travel stories, dessert sharing and getting to know each other. I am sure that a few moments to sit down on a comfortable sofa to enjoy a nice cup of coffee and treat after a long trip did not prove too unsettling.
Though check in availability occurs over many hours it really is not a controllable issue when all the guests arrive at the same time. This mass arrival doesn't occur often but when it does, it can and often has generated some quite fun times enjoyed by all.

Under the neutral section of this review I feel strongly the need to comment.
Our bed and breakfast as well as some of the finest establishments in this city are located in Asheville's historic district.
They comprise some of the most expensive real estate in the city and I did want to offer every assurance that it is "more than safe" to walk downtown.
Nearly every guest we have had in 9 years that was capable of walking six blocks has done it and has never experienced a problem.
Every B+B guest we host comes from different backgrounds and experience levels. Some are comfortable only in their own surroundings ---but that is a different issue than being safe. Obviously, Asheville is a city and as such it is not crime free. I don't know if such a place exists anymore regardless of where you call home but I did want to respond to the safety issue so that all of our guests can still enjoy the fine walk downtown. I wouldn't want anyone to miss the architecture in this neighborhood or its inhabitants. We still have a neighborhood feel. People know each other here, they say hello and smile. Our neighborhood is old, fine and as many things of that ilk, will not come this way again.
I cherish that. Patti Wiles Owner-Innkeeper
