We enjoyed three wonderful nights in the Beaucatcher Suite at the Chestnut Street Inn this last fall. The inn exceeded our expectations in every respect.

First, we chose the inn solely because it is one of the few inns in Asheville who accepts children. We were given the Beaucatcher Suite which is in the carriage house behind the home.

Upon arriving, we found wonderful snackies available in the parlour of the main inn (brie, wines, table water crackers, warm cookies, and a happy never-ending bowl of chocolate expresso beans). The snackies were best over the weekend, but there were still bits to enjoy on a quiet weeknight Turndown was lovely with little chocolates for every guest.

The room was very spacious for our party of four. The main seating area was spacious yet snug, with windows in all directions, so the suite was always filled wth fresh air. The bed was wonderful, and even the sleeper sofa was acceptable. The bath is the largest and most well appointed bath we have ever encountered in a b&b (however other rooms had smaller baths). There is a comfortable kitchenette and dining area where our beautiful breakfasts were served en-suite.

The innkeepers were very accomodating and inconspicuous. We always felt welcome in their presence.

The dining room of the inn was elegant, but we did enjoy having our moment of peace in the morning in the comforts of our own suite.

The location of the inn was perfect. It is nestled in a mixed commercial residential neigborhood with great sidewalks and rolling hills. Everything was within walking distance including a bakery, cafe, restaurants. The downtown area was a comfortable walk or a 3-minute ride.

All in all, we would happily return in a heartbeat, but we have a long list of other destinations to cover in this lifetime before going for second helpings.

By the way, there is FREE BEER 24/7 in the dining room fridge. Don't tell the fuzz, 'cause the fridge may be shut down with those strict NC blue laws! (bottle opener is by the espresso beans)

By the way, for a good dinner, avoid the big mexican restaurant down the block. In the words of my dear brother-in-law "It'll make a turd." That's all, folks!

My partner and I really enjoyed staying at the Chesnut Street Inn. They were most accommodating in every aspect of our stay. We both have special dietary needs and they were more than happy to make sure we had everything we needed.

We were also running a bit late to check in, and they made accommodations for that, and even made dinner reservations for us so we could enjoy the Biltmore Estate a little longer.

The food was great and the innkeepers worked hard to make our stay most pleasant.

I stayed at the Chestnut Street Inn this past week while attending a conference in Asheville. Lucky for me the conference hotel was booked or I would have never discovered this great B&B. The room was lovely and very comfortable. The innkeepers were very pleasant and accommodating. And the location close to the downtown area is great. I will return and will recommend the Chestnut Inn to my friends.

We paid for a 2nd floor room (king size bed) in advance. Upon arrival, we found out that the mattress was terribly uneven (to the eye it was obvious) - sagged visibly in the middle and if you got down eye level with the mattress, could see the opposite side was easily 2-3 inches higher. Yes, the twilight zone of bed & breakfast encounters. We've stayed at plenty of others and have never had this problem.

When it was pointed out to the woman who runs the place that the bed was unacceptable (and we told her that we would accept another room), she was not apologetic in the slightest, simply refunded us the $$ and then we left. The most disturbing element to this is that she would not acknowledge that anything was wrong and it was so obvious that the mattress was ludicrously uneven. It's the "Blue Ridge Room" that you want to stay away from. Amazing that the mattress had not been removed and that they continue to provide the room for the night.

We're sorry that we could not offer you another room because the Inn was full. We take customer comments very seriously and have replaced the mattress in the Blue Ridge Room.

My husband and I stayed at this inn the last week of June and were disappointed in the false advertising. The website states that there is a nightly selection of refreshments which really only occurs on Friday and Saturday nights. The ad also states that each room has it's own window unit in the summer. Our room was on the lower west corner of the house and was uncomfortably hot in the afternoon and at night.
With all the lodging competition in the area be warned that this inn has some false advertising.

Central air conditioning was installed in the first and second floor rooms of the Inn in the spring of 2006. In early summer, after a particularly hot spell, we decided to reinstall the window units in these rooms to supplement the central AC. Sorry you were visiting during this transition time.

We have modified the wording on our website and no longer make reference to an afternoon social hour. What we serve varies by day and season.

Customer satisfaction is our goal. We hope these changes avoid any future confusion.
