We enjoyed three wonderful nights in the Beaucatcher Suite at the Chestnut Street Inn this last fall. The inn exceeded our expectations in every respect.
First, we chose the inn solely because it is one of the few inns in Asheville who accepts children. We were given the Beaucatcher Suite which is in the carriage house behind the home.
Upon arriving, we found wonderful snackies available in the parlour of the main inn (brie, wines, table water crackers, warm cookies, and a happy never-ending bowl of chocolate expresso beans). The snackies were best over the weekend, but there were still bits to enjoy on a quiet weeknight Turndown was lovely with little chocolates for every guest.
The room was very spacious for our party of four. The main seating area was spacious yet snug, with windows in all directions, so the suite was always filled wth fresh air. The bed was wonderful, and even the sleeper sofa was acceptable. The bath is the largest and most well appointed bath we have ever encountered in a b&b (however other rooms had smaller baths). There is a comfortable kitchenette and dining area where our beautiful breakfasts were served en-suite.
The innkeepers were very accomodating and inconspicuous. We always felt welcome in their presence.
The dining room of the inn was elegant, but we did enjoy having our moment of peace in the morning in the comforts of our own suite.
The location of the inn was perfect. It is nestled in a mixed commercial residential neigborhood with great sidewalks and rolling hills. Everything was within walking distance including a bakery, cafe, restaurants. The downtown area was a comfortable walk or a 3-minute ride.
All in all, we would happily return in a heartbeat, but we have a long list of other destinations to cover in this lifetime before going for second helpings.
By the way, there is FREE BEER 24/7 in the dining room fridge. Don't tell the fuzz, 'cause the fridge may be shut down with those strict NC blue laws! (bottle opener is by the espresso beans)
By the way, for a good dinner, avoid the big mexican restaurant down the block. In the words of my dear brother-in-law "It'll make a turd." That's all, folks!
