“Couldn't Have Been Better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2011

This was our first time visiting North Carolina and since we flew into Charlotte we booked our first night at another B&B there. The experience was underwhelming to say the least. So we were already a bit skittish about our accommodations for the rest of our time, which was all in Asheville at the Carolina B&B. We had nothing to worry about. From our greeting by Susan as soon as we approached the back patio we were made to feel welcome, comfortable and very well taken care of. We stayed in the cottage, which has a very comfortable king bed, small kitchen (which we never used, except for the fridge), easy chairs and spacious, nicely appointed bathroom complete with large whirlpool tub. The neighborhood is a quiet residential street that lent itself to pre-breakfast walks. And the breakfasts were absolutely delightful, imaginative, expertly executed and graciously served. I could go on, but let me just say that we have stayed in a lot of B&B's throughout the country and our much too short four night stay at the Carolina ranks as one of the very best.

My 10 year old daughter and I stayed with James and Susan at the Carolina B&B, and really loved the experience. The inn is a beautifully restored Craftsman, in a historic neighborhood with many beautiful homes and gardens, with a unique, creative, Asheville style. Susan is a fantastic cook - no continental breakfasts here, rather quiches and belgian waffles with bacon...James is a generous and friendly host ready with a wealth of information when you need it. The inn is truly within walking distance to downtown. The right place, location, price, and experience. My 10-year old requested that we go back!

James and Susan think of everything! Greeted immediately upon arrival then encouraged to relax. The food was fun and fresh! My sister and I loved the happy hour, got great suggestions from James, and had a pleasant walk to downtown for dinner and drinks. Thank you and we WILL be back. Almost forgot- the bed was heavenly!

It's hard to put into words how amazing our experience was. First, James and Susan are amazing owners, incredibly attentive, wonderfully educated about Asheville, and just delightful people! My wife and I stayed in the Cottage for our honeymoon and it was phenomenal - breakfast in bed each morning, accomodations away from the main house but close enough to enjoy others - perfect! The breakfasts were just spectacular and very different for an eggs and bacon kind of guy. The restaurants they recommended were all wonderful, we tried about half of them, and we were always stunned at how good the food and service were. The afternoon wine happy hour was also enjoyable, and the front porch is great for relaxing and socializing. I could go on and on, just stay here if you're wondering where to stay in the Asheville area. We know we'll be back!

Room Tip: The Cottage is great for a couple!

We visited Asheville with another couple for a short, three night getaway from Atlanta. My wife and I have been to Asheville twice in the last two years. This time I wanted to stay in the Montford district, so we picked Carolina B&B based on its TripAdvisor ratings and proximity to downtown. Parking can be a hassle downtown, but from the B&B it's a relatively short walk. We could not have been more pleased with the hospitality of James and Susan, the food, and the condition of the rooms. We hope to be back again next year and plan on another great stay with James and Susan. If you are thinking about booking the Carolina B&B, stop thinking - - just do it. Now.

Overall our trip to the Carolina B&B was fantastic! We arrived very late on a friday evening and James and Susan had conveniently left a key and directions on the back porch for us. We were also greeted in our room by a delicious dessert. Throughout our whole stay our hosts were wonderfully accommodating and very helpful. James and Susan were the perfect hosts providing conversation and advice whenever needed! The food was delicious as well... the breakfast in the morning (especially the salmon and egg dish) was excellent! The wine and hor d'oeuvres in the evening were wonderful and it was nice to be able to chat with the other guests. The cookies available downstairs were quite tasty as well! I would highly recommend the Carolina B&B to anyone and I would definitely return.

My husband and 7 other members of our extended family decended on the Carolina B&B on a cool rainy afternoon in May. Our host, James, met us at the door and immediately made us feel right at home. From that moment until we left, two days later, our every need was met in a most gracious manner. From what we had read about the inn, we were expecting the delicious breakfasts, but we were completely amazed at the homemade hors d'oeuvres and wine that was served from 5:30-6:30 in the afternoon. There was always coffee, hot tea and cold drinks available as well as homemade snacks. I can not think of a single complaint that I would make about this lovely place. Our family would certainly like to make another trip to this B&B in the future. James and Susan have found just the right blend of being helpful without being intrusive.
