We stayed at this property for a wedding (and its location in downtown Asheville). The bride reserved the block of rooms in March for the August wedding and was promised that hotel renovations would be complete. They were quite far from complete.
Our room had some renovations complete - furniture, some flooring, parts of the bathroom, but overall it was not finished. The hallway was completely bare of finishing details - ceiling lights were attached to the walls, the carpet was filthy and the walls were stripped and electrical lines hung from the ceiling.
The bed itself was crooked on an old bed frame and had no bed skirt. The bathroom had 'jelly jar' (exterior lighting) lights, no toilet lid and the sink was entirely too small and leaked all over the floor. There was also no towel bar, just a little place below the sink for hand hand towels. There was one small mirror in the bathroom, no full length mirror or other mirrors in the room at all. The comforter and pillows were well worn and very uncomfortable.

The new flat panel TV was nice, but there were few channels to choose from and the remote had some issues. The room decor was modern.
We were able to overlook the details of the incomplete renovation, even the awful breakfast, but our last straw was the front desk help. Several times in our 3 night stay our door key refused to work. Each time the front desk staff lectured us not to put it near a cell phone or wallet and accused us of 'messing it up.' After the 4th time of it not working, we discovered it was our door lock that was not working. The hotel was full and could not move us, so we cautiously closed our room door knowing we would have a difficult time re-entering. The morning we went to check out the door lock completely stopped working; we could not get back into our room (with many of our belongings still inside). Since it was a Sunday morning, no manager or maintenance person was on the property and was not scheduled to come in. We were once again lectured about the card key and no one would believe that our door just wouldn't open. It took 2 hours for them to locate the metal key to let us in. Upon our check-out, which was late, they were huffy that we were leaving later - and it was not our fault!
We would never consider returning to this hotel with so many other choices in Asheville. The location is great, but no worth the headaches.
