My husband and I stayed with Patty and Bear more than 6 months ago, but I still feel strongly enough about the experience to write a review. The house was amazing. So comfortable and homey, we absolutely didn't want to leave. And my favorite part was the bed -- the most comfortable thing I've ever slept in. We said we want to go back just to get that great sleep again! Here were all of the highlights that have to be mentioned: gorgeous property, romantic and delicious breakfast served by Bear himself, puzzles and games in the family room for cold or rainy stays, friendly customer service helping us navigate around the hot spots in Asheville, large patio with fireplace and lots of seating, and the most cozy feeling rooms with every luxury and overnight necessity thought through.

Thank you, Patty and Bear for your hospitality and opening up your home to us.

Room Tip: We poked around in all the rooms and they were all great. Ours didn't have a tub, but it did hav...

We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Patti and Bear. They went out of their way to take care of all of our special requests, and treated us like family. Beautiful location and exceptional service. My wife and I were married in Asheville in December 2013 and stayed with Patti and Bear. They went out of the way to make sure they took care of everything they possibly could for us. I'd recommend their location to anyone, and we hope to go back for anniversaries and other trips in the future.

After reading the other glowing reviews of Crooked Oak Mountain Inn there is little I can add. We ended up here, not intentionally, but because Asheville was BOOKED for the holidays.Luckily the inn had a vacancy. Our biggest regret is that we couldn't spend more time. Our room felt like a classy tree house. Bear and Patti were perfect hosts. Breakfast was fragrantly delicious. We have family in Asheville and are expected to stay with them when we visit, unless, as was the case recently. their house is over capacity. But, come spring, we just might have to sneak off to oasis on the mountain.

Room Tip: Don't let the road to the inn intimidate you. The destination is worth it.

This review is long overdue. We stayed with Patti and Bear and The Crooked Oak in September of 2013 and they make this special place a magnificent stay. Bear is exactly that, this huge Bear of a man who is a warm and caring host and Patti is the glue that keeps the place running and always has great recommendations. Excellent breakfasts that are not only unique but expertly prepared. I miss the blueberry pancakes, the muffins and the potato medley the most (I tried to keep that list as short as possible).

Not only are they excellent hosts they educate you about the area and have plenty of experience with what to do and all the maps/guides to get you there.

Beds are comfy and nights are quiet. There's a front deck and a really nice area near the back of the Inn with a very special tree that you must read about during your stay. I can say without a doubt, you could not possibly be disappointed with choosing the Crooked Oak Mountain Inn. I've also included some pictures from our stay here.

Thanks for everything Bear and Patti!
-Brian and Mali

We had a wonderful experience this past weekend.
The service was top rate and the food was great.
Though we had just met them we felt like they were long time friends by the time we left.
Even the other guests seemed like friends.
If we ever come back to Asheville we will definitely stay at Crooked Oak if rooms are available.

Crooked Oak Mountain Inn exceeded all of our expectations without question. The Inn is amazing, but Bear & Patti really make the experience what it is. When you come in from a day exploring the area, they are there with a beer or glass of wine to help you relax. When you get ready for the day, the breakfast is incredible, and Bear is an excellent chef! If they are serving pancakes, make sure you try the house special, a combination of blueberries, cranberries, and granola. There are hiking trails on the property if you want to explore or several fireplaces if you just want to hang out & relax. It's only 5 minutes to the center of downtown Asheville but if you don't want to leave the property, you would think that you are 100 miles from civilization. I cannot recommend Crooked Oak Mountain Inn enough. We will DEFINITELY be back, and hopefully very soon!

What a beautiful home in the mountains! Patti and Bear were wonderful hosts. The breakfast menu was awesome. Bear's Belgium waffles are fantastic, very light and airy. I am so glad he shared his recipe with me. I can't ain't wait to try them. The mountains views were incredible. The rooms are very well appointed. The suggestions for tours, restaurants and sight seeing was exactly what we were looking for. I would definitely recommend this Inn for anyone visiting Asheville.
