My wife and I don't do B&B's much but we tried this one. Conclusion: Crooked Oak is a special place, regardless of the type of accommodation. The proprietors, Patti and Bear, are gifted is how I'd put it. They're both very friendly, energetic, caring, warm people who have loads of taste with food and design. The breakfasts are breathtaking, to say the least, and the rooms are gorgeous. Our first night there the power went out from the deluge gripping Asheville lately. But it was fun nonetheless, sort of like summer camp. P&B kept everyone happy, fed and safe, and built a sense of esprit de corps with the guests. No panic, just competence. We had a few chats with them and some of their loyal guests over the next two nights too and learned a lot about the Asheville area. While the Crooked Oak experience is perhaps more personal than some may want, I got the sense that P&B were sensitive about giving each guest the space they wanted. Finally, a shout out to Ron who helps P&B around the Inn. Ron has a great touch with landscaping. The place is really lovely, little paths winding around the hill the Inn is perched on. All in all a really superb experience. Nice folks committed to excellence. So rare these days.
