“Beautiful mountain respite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2012

This lovely B&B is well worth the 3 mile drive up Town Mountain Road from Asheville. My stay here made the difference between an OK vacation and a great one. Hosts Patti and Bear really go the extra mile to make their guests feel welcome and well-taken care of. The place is warm, attractive, and spotless, and the beds are made and towels replaced every day. My friend and I arrived expecting to share a room, but were treated to two rooms because the one next door was available.

Breakfast is superb, and Bear makes fabulous pecan waffles. My friend's gluten-free diet was easily accommodated, and we didn't even start to think about lunch until 2PM.
A glass of wine here, a slice of peach pie there, and relaxing rocking chairs on the porch are just some of the amenities we enjoyed.

Room Tip: Not all the rooms have their own bathroom, so make sure to choose what you're comfortable with...

Our five night stay was not long enough - we could've settled in for weeks. Everything is first class including the setting, rooms, hospitality, and breakfasts. It was hard leaving but Patti's warm hug good-bye will remain as a reminder of how wonderful they are to their guests. Perhaps on our next visit, we will also receive a "Bear" hug! (Restaurant tip: the sea bass at Limones will melt in your mouth!)

Excellent location, not too far, but not too close to downtown! Excellent from the very first greeting until we left two short days later! Accommodations were perfect. The breakfasts were delicious with many choices. The surroundings outside were fun to walk around and landscaped beautifully. Hosts Patti and Bear could not have been more helpful with dining and activity suggestions. First trip to Asheville but we will be back and will stay at the Crooked Oak Mountain Inn.

I read all of the reviews prior to booking the inn. Everything was true. We were delighted with our experience. No detail was forgotten.Patti and Bear were very helpful in helping us plan our time in Ashville. We were given directions and also told of their experiences. This is a place to revisit.

Room Tip: We loved the Chestnut Suite. The view is magnificent.

From the moment you drive up the long, winding mountain road and find the inn, you feel as though the weight of the world is left behind. It's a beautiful place. Like a magical, extremely well appointed and clean, treehouse.
You walk in with a smile on your face. You appreciate the tamed yet natural landscaping, and the relaxing patio area with its gorgeous pond. All you want to do is swing on the hammock and relax, but you haven't seen your room yet.

We stayed in the Willow Suite. It couldn't have been better. Well appointed and spotless. Cozy but not stifling. Roomy and airy with a beautiful wrap around porch. The bathroom is modern, with it's awesome shower and jacuzzi tub. Fresh, fluffy, soft towels everywhere. The bathrobes are a nice touch. Just sitting on the porch, in your robe, in the morning with a cup of coffee, is enough. So relaxing, calming and rejuvenating. We poked around and peeked in the other rooms as well. They all have their own name and theme and we would be happy and comfortable in any of them.

Patti and Bear make you feel comfortable and just happy to be there. The breakfast is amazing. The muffins....oh, the muffins. Unbelievably good. Best waffles I have ever had.
They give you all sorts of information and directions about Asheville. They know everyone everywhere and never steer you wrong. Follow their instructions, and you will fall in love with all Asheville has to offer within 24hours.

While we were there, one couple got engaged by the pond. It was very sweet and very special. Its just the perfect place for romantic gestures and happiness.
Later on, much to my surprise and delight, my boyfriend and I got engaged as well, at a wonderful little gem of a restaurant called Zambra. It was wonderful, special and the most romantic trip of my life.
We have decided to hold our wedding there as well. The beautiful grounds, the gorgeous inn and the hospitality of Patti and Bear made it a very easy decision. We cannot wait to come back to the Crooked Oak Mountain Inn for our special day.
Thank you to Patti and Bear for making us smile, from beginning to end.

Room Tip: Go for the suites, the Willow or the Chestnut. Absolutely gorgeous.

My daughter helped me to chose the Crooked Oak Mountain Inn based on the reviews she found on Trip Advisor - - - all of the accolades were spot on ! Three of us stayed at the Inn for a week in the middle of July at this off the beaten path retreat. From the minute we arrived we were greeted warmly by Patti & Bear and the hospitality continued throughout our stay. Our room (Willow) was immaculate and spacious with lots of nice home-like touches (Bose Wave Radio) and we especially enjoyed the two large windows which allowed the morning sun to gently stream in. The grounds were beautifully maintained and peaceful and there were several spots that were perfect to relax and enjoy the scenery. The breakfasts were delicious and expertly prepared (but also made with TLC). Having breakfast outside on the porch with the cool breeze blowing made it even more enjoyable. Although we had several day excursions planned, Patti & Bear always offered some helpful suggestions and the best way to get anywhere we wanted to go. We felt pampered and spoiled by all the attention and care they showed us and they have set the standard on what we will expect from our next B & B. Speaking of feeling pampered, Patti was kind enough to recommend and arrange for individual massages for us in the privacy of our room. We all enjoyed our mini "spa" day. All of the common areas were comfortable and relaxing (indoors and outdoors) and even though there were other guests we were always able to find a spot or two to just relax and take it easy. We would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone ! The next time we go we'll be sure to pack extra "Ring Dings" as we know they will definitely be appreciated ! ! !

The breakfast was out of this world..It was by far the best breakfast we have ever had at at B&B. We highly recommend Crooked Oak and we will certainly be visiting again!
