We were seeking a place to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and decided on the Biltmore Village Inn based on the reviews. The Inn did not disappoint; in fact, it exceeded our expectations. We were greeted by Monica, the innkeeper, who offered us a mimosa and gave us a tour of the property along with its history. The Victorian main house has been completely restored and is furnished with period pieces to set the tone. It is accessible 24/7, and there is a butler’s pantry with gourmet coffee, tea, soda, bottled water, ice, etc. available any time. The Inn is hidden from the main road and sits on a hill with beautiful views from the wrap-around porch or the patio. We stayed in the Honeymoon Cottage, separate from the main house with a view across the patio to the mountains. We entered the cottage and were welcomed by chilled champagne, a magnificent bouquet of roses and chocolate covered strawberries on a tray with “Happy Anniversary” spelled out in chocolate. It was a harbinger of the attentive service we were to receive during our entire stay. The wine and cheese in the afternoon were delightful and offered an opportunity to meet and chat with the other guests in the dining room or on the porch. We also took advantage of our private porch in front of the cottage. Monica’s husband, John, is the chef who prepared delicious and varied 3 course breakfasts for us each day which were graciously served by Monica, John and Steve (the sous chef). The food was delicious, serving sizes were just right, and the presentation was splendid – all enhanced by Monica’s cheerful smile and charming demeanor. When we returned from a tour of the Biltmore house on the second day (our actual anniversary), it was a clear night with a full moon. Rose petals freely spread around the rim of the heart-shaped jacuzzi tub and candles set just the right mood. In short, there is a reason that this Inn is so highly rated: they deserve it! We will definitely return!
