Description: What constitutes "New South Flavors?" For us, it is begins with reverence for those time-honored Southern dishes. Served up by wonderful home cooks for years. We respect the freshness, the flavors and the food itself. But we like to jazz it up a little, add something deliciously unexpected to delight your palate. Our interpretation of traditional Southern fare is creative, inventive and satisfyingly scrumptious. Cheers to New South Flavor!

“highly over-rated!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2010

I find this restaurant about like Greenlife both are overpriced and highly over-rated. Breakfast is decent but the other meals not so much. It is typical Asheville if you have a catchy name the stinking hippies and more money than brains yuppies flock like lemmings. The frog bar has a Sunday brunch that blows this places breakfast out of the water and the Bier Garden is leaps and bounds ahead when it comes to lunch and dinner but hey there name doesn't have the ring of the tupelo honey cafe so they aren't rated nearly as high. This place is nowhere near #3.

“Very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2010

We decided to grab a quick bite for dinner one evening while in Asheville. After hearing so much about this restaurant, we decided to try it. I think they are most famous for breakfast but since we were here we wanted to try it out.
We were given the free biscuits and jam. Very good biscuits and jam which was very good. My husband had the burger, which he said was tasteless and I had the fried chicken sandwich, which was very good. It had bacon on it and a spiced mayo. What is not to like? We sat by the chef's bar and several of the chefs spoke to us and were very nice and friendly. Our waitress was very nice and attentive even with the restaurant being packed. It does get a bit cramped and loud but that does add to the atmosphere.
It wasn't the most memorable dining experience while in Asheville but that may be due to our menu choices. The food was good and the quality of the food high. I would go back for breakfast or order something other than a sandwich/burger type meal. I can see why they are popular.

“Tasty Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2010

The biscuits are to die for! So flaky and delicious you'll want several!! Had an amazing omelette too. My only qualm with them is that they packed so many tables so closely together. It made getting in and out difficult for us and our waitress as well.
